Trying again

I had a d&c on september 29th, and everything went well. Im curious about what everyone thinks about how long to wait. My doctor told me there is no risk trying after one cycle, the only reason they suggest 3 months is for emotional reasons. And I trust him on that, but has anyone actually miscarried twice because of trying too soon? Ive read stories where some women actually conceived after a miscarriage before they even got their period, and had healthy babies. Im suppose to ovulate in a few days, I want to try again, but im nervous.

Lol, I just use this app on my phone called period tracker. You keep a log of when your period starts and ends and it shows your ovulation week. Its usually day 14 after your period starts. So I just make sure to try during that week.

To im_just_sayin, my doc said there is no reason you have to wait a few months, unless your emotionally not ready. If its your first miscarriage you don't have any higher odds of miscarrying again. Thank you all for your help, im sorry for all your losses. Im glad I have others to talk to about this! I think that I have decided to just let things happen, not "try" to conceive cause that might make things stressful. Ive had one cycle now since my d&c, and I feel good about conceiving again whether it happens this month or in three.

i just had a miscarriage too empty sac with no fetal pole no heartbeat no baby basically... i took some medicine to help me miscarry and ended up in the er from blood loss.. they did an emergency d&c. i was trying to avoid a d&c cuz me and the hubby want to try again... the doc said to wait 2 cycles for emotional reasons but said that i would get pregnant again when my body is ready.. she said that there is no "time limit"... but im switching docs so i dont know how much i trust them.

I am so sorry for your loss and wish you all the best. No one can tell you what is best for you...if you have truly grieved for your lost child, then trying again makes sense. My concern in this situation is always that the stress of TTC gets mixed up with grieving the loss if you jump back in too soon. So, my advice is to make sure you have truly grieved the loss...

I think it depends how you are feeling.  I miscarried my third baby and when I think I am pretty sure I miscarried several times but never tested so wouldn't know.

I fell pregnant after one period and my daughter is not 8 months.  I was an emotioal wreck until I was 16 weeks pregnant and heard my baby's heartbeat - I miscarried my son at 14 weeks.  I am now suffering from pnd and am getting help with that.

My only advice would be to make sure you are emotioanlly healed before trying again.  I had many panic attacks during my pregnancy and am still getting them today!!!

Take care of yourself and goodluck

Thank you, I did have my period, it just ended a few days ago, I feel ready to try again, but if I miscarried it would be harder to deal with. My doctor also told me miscarriage is common in my age group (im 20), but it still ***** my first pregnancy was a miscarriage. Thank you for your advice.  :))

oh, now I'm wondering if you have already had one cycle?  I looked back and saw tthat your m/c was in Sept. Your doctor told you it would be okay to try after one cycle, so he must think your body is ready. The worry will probably always be there.    For me, since having a m/c, I'm always worried.  I think a m/c will do that to a person. But  I think it's always personal as to when we are actually ready to try again.

For me, with my first one I waited about 5 months bc emotionally I just couldn't go there again.  but with my 2nd and 3rd, I was ready to try again right away.  I'm always worried, but that bit of worry is worth it to me to have another chance at having a healthy baby.  So that's my thought process.  It's different for everyone and whatever decision you make will be the right one for you.  Good luck.

I'm really sorry for your loss.  With my first m/c, I had a D&C and my doctor advised me to wait 3 months. (probably for the reason you described)  And for me, at that time, it was okay bc I wasn't ready to try again.

You are correct that some women do get pregnant b4 their first period after a m/c and carry a perfectly healthy baby.  Now, I'm not sure if those women had a natural m/c or a D&C.  My doctor told me that I sholdn't get pregnant right away after a D&C bc of all the scaping he did and the uterus needs time to build back up to be a nourishing place for implantation and such.  I'm not sure if that's correct, but that's what he told me.

I really understand your wanting to try again and not wait, but really one cycle is not that much time.  It would give your body time to heal.  And really, the  best thing to do, imo, is whatever your doctor suggests.  Maybe there is a bit of truth to what my doctor told me about the uterus needing time and that's why your doctor said wait a cycle.

Again, I'm really sorry for your loss and would suggest doing as your doctor advised.  And hopefully you get a little sticky bean in no time.
