Well, every miscarriage starts out as a missed miscarriage technically. For the most part there is a period of time from the fetus passing to your body realizing this and taking the steps it needs to. This can range from a few days to a few weeks.
Some women do choose medical intervention. This can range from medication to a D&C (which is a surgical procedure). Others prefer to let nature take it's course, and again, the length of time can really vary.
Talk to your Dr. to help decide the best option for you. And remember, if you experience any very heavy bleeding (a pad an hour), please do seek emergency medical treatment. I am so sorry for your loss and wish you peace and healing.
