How can you tell if ur sx are MS or somethin else?

How do you know if your symptoms are from the MS or something that needs attention right then??  For example, weakness in your arms or legs, how do you know if its a stroke or if its the MS causing it?
I've been sick with a sinus infection for awhile now but just started antibotics on Thursday.  I woke up Friday and my legs were weak.  Then my left arm went weak and now it comes and goes between my left and right arm.  My neurologist said she thought it was from the infection.  But I've never been weak like this with an infection.  (Or maybe I don't remember how I felt b/c I pay more attention to how I'm feeling now)
But it sent my anxiety threw the roof!!!  I don't want to rush to the emergency room every time I think something was happening but I also don't want to ignore it and it be something serious.
Any suggestions on how to ease my mind when these symptoms come??
Thank you!!!  Hope everyone's having a nice weekend.

Thanks for the advise.  It really helps knowing some things to look out for.

I only have one lesion and its healed so I didn't know if this could be MS or if like u said the infection is enhancing some symptoms.  I don't have a fever anymore but I did Tuesday night.

Thanks again,

Christy

Numbness or paralysis from a stroke will likely be on one side only and will not come and go.  There are a few simple tests for a stroke that anyone can do.  You can do them for yourself.

1.  Smile - it should look even on both sides.
2.  Stick out your tongue - it should protrude evenly and be movable from side to side
3.  Form and speak a simple sentence - it should make sense and sound normal
4.  Check hand grip - should be even (maybe not for MSers) and as strong as normal
Or close your eyes and raise your arms - hopefully both arms rise together & evenly

Fighting an infection will get your immune system fired up and that can get your MS symptoms fired up too, especially if you have a fever.

Whenever you truly are worried if something serious is going on, check with your doctor and don't second guess your decision.

Hope everything is feeling and working better soon.
