I am going to the Neuro

Hi Guys, as many of you know I have procrastinated about going to the neurologist for weeks.  Well I decided today to go!  I rang and made the appointment thinking that it would prob take me 8 weeks to get in and by then I would be feeling better and I could cancel.

Well amazingly enough I have got in for this Monday, so only 7 days to wait, so I guess I can't change my mind now.  I hope I am not wasting anyone's time.  I had an appointment in place early next year for MRI scan and checkup and he did say see him before then if I felt the need to (ie: If i had got worse), I am not sure if this constitutes worse but it feels worse to me, but I am not sure anything worse will show up on neuro exam.

I feel like I am going to him too much, as I keep getting symptoms.. it will be just over 5mths since my last visit.

Cheers,
Udkas.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your encouraging comments.  It seems so silly to be so stupid about going to the Drs, when nobody I know would put up with the weird things that I do!

Well now the decision has been made and I have organized a replacement for me at work I can't back out now or I will stuff everyone around. Anyway apparently he was not fully booked that day, so I don't feel so guilty at all.

I am afraid that I will just get fobbed off, not that it has happened but I don't feel like I have any physical signs of worsening, just the sensory stuff, apart from if I place something really cold on one of my legs i can't feel it as well in one spot but instead it creates a burning feeling sometimes.. weird...

Well guys I will let you know what he has to say as many of you encouraged me to go in the first place. Migraines vs TM/MS?  or madness.

Take care,
Udkas.

That is good news!  Please do not worry about wasting your doctors time.  Really, that is what they are there for and I'm sure your neuro doesn't think that.

I don't remember how long you've been dealing with the TM/MS thing, but as someone here said, frequent monitoring is in order with new symptoms.  When I was first dx my neuro was seeing me weekly until my symptoms became stable.  It took months (it was a whopper) as I kept adding symptom after symptom.

That's just great that they could get you in so soon!  The way you've been feeling, it's a good idea to be seen.  A week should pass quickly.
I'm looking forward to seeing how your appointment goes.

Take care,

Kathy

I saw my neuro every month until my symptoms stabilized...  Now I only call him if the symptom is bad enough.

Its great that they can get you in so soon - be sure and go!  :-)

I think it is reasonable to see the neuro after 5 months in your situation.  be well, Lulu

Good for you!  I'm glad you'll be able to get in so soon.  What you describe certainly constitutes "worse" in my book.  Best of luck.

I'm so happy to hear you are going to go see him again.  I don't think 5 months between visits is too much in fact, you are not entirely stable right now, new symptoms and all, so even seeing him every 3-4 months is reasonable.

He may or may not find anything new per se on your upcoming exam, but you have new stuff to report to him. Going in when new stuff is happening helps document you case.  Like I've told you before, there is more going on inside you than the residuals of TM.

I wouldn't be surprised if he decides to do another MRI right now rather than later this year.  Doctors like to do that when new symptoms appear.

So, one week from today, eh?  Can't wait to hear how it goes.  Hang in there.
