thanks audrey for the advice and the link i will check out the site.i am just in a spin accepted the fact of the possible m.s but dont want to add another thing to it
Yes it is possible to have autoimmune deseases with MS. I know for fact because I also have lupus, and a rare autoimmune kidney desease. Not necessarily commonplace, but it can and does happen.
I took statistics as an undergraduate and our "professor" was a stoner, so I did not learn much. I can vividly remember him gazing out the window, lost in his own little word. It could take him 5 minutes or more to come back to reality and the class. His words of wisdom to the class were "You have to remember the f'ing T Test".
Yup, high quality education!
Obviously, this was before the days of a drug free workplace, which have to be adhered to if any federal funding is received.
LOL

Thank you for this link. I spent a good while at this website and read the study report. I had to dust off my very rusty grad schoool statisitical skills, and since I am not knowledgeable about genetics, it was rough sledding.
Still, one thing stood out, and that is that the allele that seems to link many autoimmune disorders was not found in MS. The authors were not sure what the implications of this are.
It's too bad that the study ended and the report was issued in 2005. I bet they'd be interested in my family.

hey mary,
there is a post a bit further down the list from kjleedy, looking for anyone with graves and m.s. too that you would be interested in.
xo michelle
Yes it is possible to have more than one autoimmune disease and there is an organization dedicated to researching multiple autoimmune diseases, MADGC or Multiple Autoimmune Disease Genetics Consortium.
Interesting to look at the website, because Graves Disease and MS are 2 of the 5 diseases listed under "Do any of these diseases run in your family?"
