68 with ms

I care for a person with MS and this person is giving up, he/she will not eat and she never wants to get out of bed, they said they are tired all the time and whats even worse they have a really bad cold but refuse to go the the hospital and I don't know what to do he /she is of sound mind and the EMT can't take her to the hospital with out her consent because she refuse to go, In the last 3 days her eyes have sunk into her head and he/she has lost a lot of weight and I just don't know how to help her, nursing home is out of the question she won't go there either! Can someone give me some advice on how to deal with this problem this person is a very special person and the world would not be the same without her.

Shirley,

You are so welcome. I'm so happy you were able to get her to go. We all know what can happen when Pnemonia takes hold. Sounds like you got her there just in time.

Good for her to want to walk. Any kind of wants when illness like this can make all the difference in determination to get better.

Will you be able stay along with us?  Provide your insight in what it's like to take care of MSers? We could sure use you....

Hope to see you around,

Just to say I am so glad that you managed to get her seen and into hospital and perhaps a little break will do you good. It is incredibly tiring looking after someone with a neurological condition (I have done this) and I think that is is easy to overlook the fatigue that you yourself may feel. It takes a special person to know a special person and bless you for the love and care that you give.

With love to you and take care of yourself

Also consider a call to Adult Protective Services at the Florida Department of Children & Families.

Oh Shirley69  - This makes me so sad.

Can you call her MD or Neuro and explain this situation and ask for guidance? Sounds like she desperately needs urgent care and this is the only thing I can think of that may help asap.

Please know you are both in my thoughts and thank you for asking for our help! I just hope we can.
