Another dr. appointment...

Well I saw my gp today again and she is going to wean me off of the Lyrica and start me on Elavil which used to be used as a depressant but is now used for pain or sleep issues.  She may then try me on Cesamet later which is a THC derivative med that they used to use for nausea but now use mostly for pain.  It is a drug that is out of the norm and she is a little hesitant as she hasn't used it herself but when the time comes I will educate her on a few other meds that are available that she hasn't figured out yet.  She actually seemed to have done some homework regarding my case for a change and seemed really interested in how I am feeling, what the pain level is and what my emotional state is...not sure if it's PMS or what?

I found out also that I have Bursitis in my knee which she is treating with a topical NSAID and if it doesn't work she gave me a RX for corticosteroid that she can inject if need be.  Time will tell I guess!

I explained yet again about my frustration at not being on the DMD's and she finally came out and stated that the neuropsychological evaluation will hopefully give us more information and reveal more than what has been brought out by the neurologist alone.  I noted that the neurologist blamed all the symptoms I was having on the med overdose but the some of the symptoms are still quite lively in my body and the meds have been weaned off to a manageable dose so that simply can't be the problem.  The gp agreed and said that she is looking forward to me having this test.

Like I said...I don't know if this is just a case of PMS or what but I can live with finally having a doctor that is interested in you and  I hope it keeps up!

I am really tired tonight and Mom is having her surgery tomorrow so I would imagine being the daughter I will be the main caregiver...not that I mind in the least of course...it's going to be a very long day. I may not get back on here until Friday so, I guess I will talk to you when I can!

Lots of Hugs,

Rena

Great news about this GP.  This is a start.  I am glad they are taking you off the Lyrica.  Remember, SLOW with the withdrawing...that way you will have no after effects.  Been there, done that, as you know.

I will say a prayer for you and your mother.  God bless you both.  When you get a chance, drop in and let us know how everything went.  We DO care.

Many prayers and much love and hugs,
Heather

This really sounded like a good Dr visit (dare I even say it).  I know you didn't expect much, but at least it was positive.  You needed that!  We needed it for you!

Be well tomorrow taking care of you Mom, pray all goes well.

Don't overdue it too much if you can help it!

Thinking of you,
