A Question on DMD

Hi Everyone

I have been unable to post for a while, computer playing up and acting all silly on me

I have a quick question, I have started on my shots on the 20th of January, what are they supposed to do, other than slow the progression of the MS down

I do not feel any different on the Bestaseron, though i am still on the very low dose,

Do they actually get rid of the symptoms or at least make them less noticeable

I have read up on this drug, but it mentions nothing other than to slow the progression, so still at a loss, if it is going to make me feel better eventually

Thanks
Tyler

Hi

Again thanks, I suppose i really am expecting way too much from being on the Betaseron, I don't know why lol,

The neuro also has me on Gabapentin 300mg 3 times a day for pain, but they have not helped me all in the month i have been on them, so perhaps it is just the wrong drug for me,

like i said i am still on the very low dose, i go up .50 with the shots tonight, until i finally get on full dose,

I guess i just want miracles to happen over night, but don't we all lol, I am already fed up with the shots, and this will only be my 5th one, lol,

Thanks again
Tyler

I take Copaxone and I've been told it will be 6 months before I start to feel a difference. It's been almost 3 months and I've actually felt great this whole week (aside from having a darn cold).

I believe you would have to take some other form of medicine (for nerve pain, to fight fatigue, etc.) in order to get any symptom relief. I think the purpose of the DMD's is to reduce the number of future relapses. They won't do anything to cure whatever is going on now.

Hi

Thanks very much, I realize that MS cannot be cured, and once the damage is done is it there to stay,

What do they do when the Symptoms just do not go away, I know before Christmas, they had me on Solumedrol for 5 days, and yes it did clear up quite a lot of the symptoms, just unfortunately not for that long

Is this just something we learn to live with, I am still so new to this, it is still very confusing, and i still have lots to learn,

Thanks

Hi Tyler
Unfortunately, taking the DMD's will not make a "noticable difference" in your MS symptoms.
All the meds are intended to do is Slow Down the progression of future damage by the disease.
They are not intended to treat, heal, or cure MS symptoms.
I hope this helps.

Take care
D
