I'm on copaxone. I have to do a really small dose on my legs because with a full dose, I get lumps the size of softballs! I try to hang in there. Sometimes I give up and skip a week or 2 just to give my poor legs a rest. What was your reaction to copaxone? Having lupus, I can't do any of the interferons. My rheumie said with lupus my body makes interferon. My neuro suggested methotrexate, but that won't do because of my kidneys. Then he suggested tysabri. My choice is not to attempt tysabri because of the chance of brain infection with my body making interferon and on the advice of someone dx'd with MS and living with MS for the past 30 years. So, now we are possibly looking at sandimmune or cellcept. Both anti-rejection drugs. Allergic? perhaps slightly to copaxone, sensitive to the side effects of others. What if you're allergic to beta? You don't worry about it until it happens. And listen to your gut. You know your body. All any of us can do is take life one day at a time. And you do the things you know will help you. For me, part of it is saying, "I can't do this anymore. It's time for me to stop." Again, at the advice of this wonderful MS sister. She said that you do what you need to do. Even if people think you are rude, if you need to rest, you rest, because as we all know, you get over tired, overly stressed, the symptoms get worse. You should see me with planning a daughter's wedding! So, to borrow a phrase from AA and Alanon...."just for today".

Hey Penny,

Well, I was allergic so something, but was on more than one med, and until I challenge the Rebif, I can't be certain.

If you are allergic to interferon (Rebif and Avonex), then you will be allergic to the Betaseron.  You were allergic to Copax too?

What type of allergic reaction did you have, and how long did it take to happen?

If I end up allergic to Rebif, my Neuro told me my only options are Copax or Tysabri.

Were the reactions different from med to med? Please describe if you can.

thanks,
Shelly
