how to handle symptoms with no meds yet

Hi I'm new on this. I was just diagnosed with ms in April. Still have not been put on meds for it. If I get the slightest bit hot I get weak and feel like I'm going to collapse. Any idea how to control that till I get treatment? I work in a factory and will be going back in a few weeks for the first time since the weather has gotten warmer here and I'm worried if I can handle how hot it gets in there. My family Dr wants me to take addorall till I see my neurologist to see if that helps with my daily symptoms but I'm Leary about that to.

There are medications for fatigue like addrell. There are muscle relaxers like Baclofen. There is Gabenpentin for nerve pain. If symptoms are really bad there are steroids. I have a cooling vest I got from MSAA.. The drugs to treat MS do nothing for symptoms they just slow progression.

I see my neurologist in a couple weeks but then he is sending me to a specialist but that will be another month. I am able to wear anything at work but just walking thru the plant takes its toll.

Hi there, there are different medications for fatigue, including the one your doctor is recommending. They are definitely worth looking into if the fatigue is going to interfere with your work.

There are also different cooling clothing options like bandanas, hat inserts that sort of thing that can hold frozen gel packs. They can be pricey though but depending on your clothing (is it just casual clothing or is there some sort of uniform?) you might be able to just get some gel packs and tuck the into pockets.

Take every opportunity available to cool down and/or have a nap. The heat can be very tough with us MS folks.

Are you seeing your neurologist soon?
