NHS funding deficit

I was searching for other medical information and found this article on nursingtimes, a UK organization about their funding crisis.  They will be short 15 billion pounds next fiscal year - perhaps that helps to explain why our UK members have such a hard time seeing doctors and getting diagnosed?  

I thought perhaps some of our members would like to read a bit of what's going on over the pond.

Pat,
I spent a lot of time today reading on this site - it is a very professional group from the looks of it.  I also signed up for their releases and their continence newsletter- i realize its meant for nurses, but you don't have to be a nurse to receive their emails.

The NHS complain that they are a victim of their own success!!!  

Seriously this is a good site - just to add to the picture of what it is like in the UK at the moment. A friend was waiting for an appt. to see a neuro (not MS related) she was told a cancellation had occured on a Saturday morning so could she take that, of course she did but asked them to confirm it was definitely Saturday.

To which the reply was oh yes, we are running clinics Saturday and Sunday at the moment, the neuro doing them doesn't work during the week but is getting some overtime in and helping us out!!!!!!!!!

Scary times eh?
