A first for me yesterday...

We took the monkeys on a walking tour of downtown yesterday (we live about 40 minutes away). It was hot, in the mid 80s, and moderately humid (we live in upstate NY). I stayed hydrated with water so I was doing okay. After about 90 minutes of walking we stopped at a restaurant for lunch.

At this time I really was feeling mostly okay, not really overheated or anything. Soon after our food came I started feeling kind of tired but nothing too bad. Then a few minutes later my fork flung itself out of my hand. I guess not really, but I swear that is what it was like. One second I am about to take a bite of my lunch and the next my fork was skidding across the floor next to me. I continued to feel "twitchy" for the rest of the day :-(

In the long run, it is a minor thing that pretty much no one besides my husband and oldest daughter noticed, but a small, stupid thing like that bugged me. I have never dealt well with heat...it must be some sort of cosmic joke that I had to get a disease that doesn't like the heat.

~Jess...who is positively melting today in the 96 degree heat, since our A/C is on the fritz!

Even though its not really funny, Jess, I had to laugh at your fork squirting out of your hand. I can surely relate as I live in Houston and its already 95 during the days and only into the upper 70's low 80's at night. You were very brave to spend that much time outside. I know I would have melted within 10 minutes!

For sure get the A/C fixed!

I feel like a Vampire, only able to go outside after dark in the summer. I went out with a flashlight last night to pick my parsley to dry for seasoning in the fall. Even with the temp at 82, I was totally wasted after 20 minutes and put an icepack on my neck when I came in and flopped onto the recliner.

Do be careful, the heat doesn't do us right anymore. And to think I worked outside in Landscaping 10-12 hours a day all summer long for a good part of my life. I guess the good D levels kept me going.

Definitely been there, friend. I'm in San Diego so the weather stays pretty steadily mild, but when I get tired, the utensils start flying. Get that AC fixed!

Jess, I hope that a/c is fixed, and soon.  This heat is nothing to mess with.  As for the squirting fork, your imagery almost made me laugh because I've been there and done that.  It is as if our bodies are possessed and these little reminders are meant to keep us in line.

I hope the twitching is gone.

Lu, who is also cooking in this heat.

Mine is too, Jess, and won't be fixed till Saturday. It's in the 90s here too.

What shall we do? Declare a nude-athon? Find a huge pool and stay in there? Hang out at the movies day after day?

Arrrgh, this is miserable. I hope your little ones are managing better than we are. Kids never seem to notice or mind. I didn't either, at that age.

But us grown-ups need some HELP!!!!

You and me both girl... I LOVE the sun and warmth. I would like to ignore that I have Uthoff symptoms...usually do a pretty good job of it too! lol ~ The real test isn't coming until July/August when the weather here just starts to amp up to the 80's and 90's.  Unfortunately, I see a difference in the amount things I'm dropping lately. I hoping that doesn't continue as my phone is really taking a beating. Sigh. :(
