I had to stop Copaxone because of skin reactions. But it's a good med, I understand that not only does the Copaxone have less systemic side effects, it is also more successful in stopping relapses and disease progression. Threre are alot of different meds used by people on this site, so I hope you have lots of responses.
Good Luck,
Sally
I was given the choice too - my options from the neuro were Rebif or Copaxone and I picked the copax.
Even though copax is a daily injection and the interferons are less frequent, I made my choice for the following reasons:
-no side effects of depression
-no need for regular lab work to monitor for liver problems
- no keeping track of which day I need to do next - I just do it every day as part of my routine
-no flu-like symptoms
-the meds can be kept off refrigeration for traveling
I'm sure the avonex users have an equivalent list of thoughts on their choice too.
good luck with the decision - just know that all the DMD's test the same when it comes to the efficiency of the drug to handle this MiSerable disease.
be well,
Lulu
