Awkward *****

No I haven't gone mad that is the title of an amazing book I have just finished, I loved it so much I have to spread the word.

The full title is - Awkward ***** - My Life with MS by Marlo Donato Parmlee, it was published in 2009 is available on Amazon, a little expensive but I found it worth every penny.

If you are in Limbo you will relate to her journey, if you are dx you will relate to her journey. She is an American who came to the UK to live just before she was dx. So an American trying to 'work' the NHS - great and a good start!

If you want to laugh, cry, or just sit there saying - I so know how she feels - then this is the book for you. I have read so many technical and advisory books about MS that this was such a refreshing change. You know you are in for a laugh when she has an MRI and lies there talking to her brain lesions saying ~"ok you little f**kers - show yourselves". You will find toliet humour (literally as we all know) and romance and poignancy in her journey.

It only took me a few days to read as it is not heavy but I found it so very uplifting as she has such a positive attitude in spite of going through some real tough times as we all have.

I won't say anymore as it will spoil it for those who want to read it.

Have fun all - life still has to be lived through all this suffering.

I agree Terry - vanity Press and all these wannabe biographies do nothing for me - but here description of sitting on a loo screaming at her other half is hysterical - and yet so true youj ust want to cry for her, with her and for yourself too - I found it a powerful read.

She also suffered with ON and I could personally relate to her attempts to get around whilst seeing double - great fun - not!

Thanks Lulu - I just didn't give the sensors a thought - and me a lecturer in a Computer Science department too:)

Thanks for the information.  Will go have a look on Amazon now.

I'm sure that we will all be able to relate to it.

I generally avoid 'vanity press' publications, but this one sounds like a winner.

The autocensor is at it again - the word that is missing is the word for a female dog.  That should help you find the book.  - Lu
