B-12 & MS Link?

I was taking B-12 shots weekly due to being tired & just found out I now am defficient & will start twice a week to see if it helps.

Do any of you have a B-12 defficiency too? Just curious.

I read last night that it can cause nerve damage like I suspect I have. Not the head pains I have though.

I see the neuro tomorrow & am ready for whatever she tells me.

A pain free night to you all!

B12 deficiency can cause symptoms similar to those of MS. But as far as I know, there is no cause and effect association with MS.

It's best to have vitamin levels checked, and if they're normal, good, that's one less thing to be worried about. If they're low, heavy supplements are in order, under the supervision of a doctor, of course. If the levels come up to normal and symptoms remain, that's the time to look for other causes.

I'm currently doing monthly b-12 injections. Hoping they help...after 5 shots I haven't seen any improvements.

Being low on B-12 is a mimick of MS, so it was one of the first things my neuro looked for in all the blood work I had done.

I'm a limbolander still.

Hope they help you!

My neuro never even mentioned people can be deficient in B-12, just D. I have to take 4000 IU's a day of D.  I told her I was so tired I couldn't make it through the day. She suggested another pill Amantadine, but those side effects can cause skin cancer so I didn't even want to try.  A friend of mine suggested a B Complex from Costco.  I am so thankful for them.  I have a lot of energy back and I make it through my workday, then I'm tired. I don't drop around noon anymore like I used too.  So glad for them. It took awhile, but I can def. tell if I don't take the B complex.  I'm going to ask my neuro about being deficient in B.  That's so interesting.
Thanks,
GOod luck to you!

I also had a significant B12 deficiency and went on shots.  Now I take a daily supplement.  I hadn't heard about the causation of nerve damage, but I hadn't really looked up the side effects.  Interesting.   Keep us updated on what your neuro says.

Thanks!
