Baclofen side effects/spasticity?

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to know if anyone has experienced increased spasticity/muscle tightness with increasing your Baclofen dosage?  I'm not for sure what is going on. My new neuro is slowly increasing my Baclofen from 30mg/day to 60mg/day over about 2 1/2 - 3 wks. At the same time that I started increasing, I started IVSM for 5 days and had to stop early since I'm always hypersensitive to it.  Although my vision has always been a little blurry since the first time I had optic neuritis, it seems to be even blurrier now.  So...I don't know if something is going on with me or if these changes are related to the Baclofen or the IVSM. I came off the IVSM early on Saturday, so it's been 5 days.
Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Kelly

Thanks Alex & JJ. And thanks for the link JJ.

Yeah, I couldn't really find too much on it causing spasticity either. Actually, I wasn't having a relapse, I keep trying to tell my neuros, that my symptoms have never gone away, they're just slowly progressively getting worse over the last 2 yrs since they all started to present.
I switched over to this new neuro a couple of weeks ago, and she decided to put me on IVSM.  I've had it before, but had negative side effects from it.  She offered to spread it out to 5 days and give me 500mg/day.  So, I thought I'd give it a shot again.
Hmmm.....

Thanks again,
Kelly

I think half the problem maybe due to being in a relapse ie sight changes, which I expect is why you were on IVSM so theoretically the increased muscle tightness or spasticity could still conceivably be a part of your relapse.

Its even possible that the increase of balcofen is making you more tired, so your not moving as much as you use too, which on its own will generate stiffness, sort of a double edged sword. I went looking for anything that puts increased spasticity to an increase of balcofen and just couldn't come up with anything, no research or even anacdotal patient experiences, sorry. what i did find was this....

one of many i'm afraid but it did make the point of stretching etc as being the first line and if more is needed then it goes into the medictions you can 'add' anyway have a look and see if it helps at all.

Cheers..........JJ

I am no Doctor but Baclofen is a muscle relaxer? I can't imagine it causing more spasticity.
