Bladder problem and anyone help?

I have for several months I have, as dr described it, had a loss of bladder pressure. i.e. when i pee it trickles out compared to the good flow I use to enjoy. I have also had a couple of accidents at night but this seems to have stopped when I changed drugs from Gabapentin to Lyrica.

For the last 36 hours I have had a problem when I pee, as when I am getting to the end I am getting an acute pain in by stomach and groin it lasts for a few minutes, I can't get off the toilet due to the pain. It takes about 15mins for it to have gone completely. It's not burning, more of stabbing pain. It has gradually got worse over the last day and a half. The urine is not discoloured in any way.

I started taking Amitriptyline about 6 weeks ago gradually increasing the dose to 50mg which I have been at for about 3 weeks. I take this along side the Lyrica at 400mg a day which I have taken for approximatley 4 months.

I don't know if it's a reaction to the amitriptyline, or a UTI or what, any help will be truely appreciated folk.

I can't emphasize enough the importance of not ignoring bladder problems or shoving them aside as merely a nuisance.  My hospitalization for sepsis made me a believer in not messing around with bladder problems.

Be sure to talk to the doctor -if this uro doesn't listen, move on to the next one.  There are some things that can be done to help the problem of frequent urination and retention and leaking and all those other things, but first of all you have to be sure you are not incubating germs with a UTI.

I'm overdue on writing my latest updates on my latest techniques in coping with bladder problems and staying UTI free - I'll try to do that in the next day or so.

good luck, Lulu

Hi
I just posted yesterday about my bladder.  I have similar problems.  I get pain in the bladder and I feel the need to just sit tight cause I feel like Im not finished.  Then sometimes when I get up the pee trickles down my leg and I have no control.

My post was about the Vesicare.  My uro put me on it about 5 or 6 months ago, and it was helping, but now every single sx came back.  I have this pressure all the time and also some diffused pain.  I have an appt with my uro tomorrow.  I am doing a void record right now, to bring with me.  I don't know what he's gonna do.  I feel like I have to pee almost all day, and if I wait too long, and I hold it, it will trickle out and I get alot of pain there.

Are you dx?  Im not yet dx, so I dont know what to think anymore.  My sister, who is dx, is going through the same problems with her bladder. Our pee problems are very similar arent they?  Feel Better!

Take care! Let us know what happens.

I think you should call your doctor, if it is an UTI you need antibiotics.  That happens too I when the bladder doesn't empty as it should.

I have a similar issue with my bladder.  Mine doesn't totally empty, dribbles and sometimes I have to push to get it out.

I hope you find out soon!!

Hang in there.

Hugs,   Red
