Hi Rachy,
I do have MS - was dx'd in Sept.  08. It was my right foot drop that sent me to the doctor originally looking for answers. I do have a neurogenic bladder that keeps life interesting - that started misbehaving in November.

No need to apologize - it  doesn't sound like moaning to me.  It sounds like you need some answers.    A lot of what you described sounds like MS to me, but I'm no medical expert.  I think you should keep looking for answers - virus or whatever it would be nice to know.  The little bit I know about viruses that cause this type of problem it can take years to resolve.

my best,
Lu

Hi guys thanks for replies ..

Im not sure about the strength of MRI scanner? I had a scan of  upper spine with no contrast . Came back clear .. no dx just suspected MS also told it could be a virus on spine.. then a few months went by had spasticity of right foot they then did blood tests etc.. all ok
Tests ive had :
Bloods
MRI
CYSTOSCOPY(to check for tumours)
URODYNAMICS= neurogenic bladder (bladder wont contract)
Since the start of all this i had spasms in right arm/leg/face all right sided also had eye droop on right side for a few days looked like i had stroke.. My first symptom was bk summer 07 i had blur vision spongey feet .. numb fingers right and numb toes right.
November 08 my numbness in toes spread up the leg to hip and my foot was dragging  so kept falling/tripping over .
I still have all same symptoms
take baclofen
diazepam
amitriptyline
tramadol
for all my symptoms.. but still none the wiser as to why this is happening to me?
Sorry to be moaning on its just over a yr now and no answers..
Im praying its a virus on spine as they put it but im not sure id keep having new symptoms this far on?

Hi Rachy,

I'm sorry to hear that you aren't doing well.  It's hard to know what might be going on without more info.

Did they give you a dx of MS last summer, or was it just suspected?  I'm with Deb, was your MRI of the brain and full spine, was it done with and without contrast, and done under MS Protocol.  And was it a 1T or 3T strength machine.

I know that's lots of questions, but it helps us to know more about your situation.  We can only give our opinion as we aren't drs, but we always like to help if we can.

I know that some of our members who are dx with MS, also have been dx with neurogenic bladder.  Maybe one of them will see your post and let you know their experience.

Foot drop is also an MS symptom.  From being here on the forum for 18 months, I've seen so many with MS symptoms, but their final dx will be one of the mimics.  There is just no way for us to know, what other tests have you have since you first became ill?

I hope that things improve for you and that you will get your dx soon.  Keep in touch and let us know what is happening with you.

Was the MRI of your spine as well?  With your symptoms, I would suspect something's wrong with the spine.

Plus, what was the strength of the MRI machine?  Some MRI machines are too weak to show lesions--especially those of the brain stem and spinal cord.

Please read the health pages (see link on the upper right hand side) about MRIs.  This will help explain things a little better.
