How soon is too soon for a new brain MRI?

I am seeing my PCP on Thursday regarding the event I had on the 17th with my vision going jittery for several minutes then getting hit with overwhelming fatigue that is still clearing up.

Is it too soon to ask for a new brain MRI, with enhancement this time?  My last one was on February 22 of this year.  If this was an exacerbation, it would show up.  If it was some kind of vascular event, that would show, too, would it not?

I will work at finding a new neuro, since I am definitely having neurological symptoms.  I am very tired and feel weak; my right arm aches if I use it much at all, even driving is a pain (literally, lol).  My tremors flared up again on Mothers Day.

Should I ask for an MRI, and should I press for a 3 Tesla?  There is one nearby, but not affiliated with my doctor's system.  My last neuro wanted everything to be done on our hospital's machines for continuity, but I'm more interested in clarity.

Please advise.

Kathy

Thank you both.

The last neuro listed under her significant exam findings: " With fatigue of eye movements she may have a subclinical INO with rapid saccades"

I'll take a copy of that to my doctor; she'll have access to it, but I'll take in a highlighted hard copy.  Maybe she can explain it to me, ha ha.

I thought if it was nystagmus it would have continued at the really jittery stage for a longer time.  I guess there are no really hard and fast rules with this stuff; bad neuros just think there are.

I know I have to find a new neuro; I just need the energy to do it.  I'll make some phone calls today.  I've heard good things about two places; have names for one of them.  They are outside my insurance network, but I don't care, I'll pay more.

Thanks again for responding, my friends.  I'll ask for what I want/need.

I'm think the frequency of  imaging is up to dr. and insurance .

With the jittery eye thing and fatigue , you are probably going to be up for more testing . My jittery eye thing is nystagmus, found with the VNG test.

Absolutely ask/insist on the 3T ,   with and without contrast

All the best to you      HUGS

Hi Kathy!

First, I wanted to say that I'm sorry that nobody answered your post yet....I'm hoping others with come in with some opinions for you.....

I really don't think there is a set time when or when not to have an MRI done....I think it depends on the doctor and/or the symptoms....

Since December, I have had 3 MRI's, 2 EEG's, a brain SPECT scan, an LP, etc...I am now going to probably have them all done over again....
Maybe you should bring it up to the doc your seeing today and see what their opinion is....
Have you found another Neuro yet?

HUGS!
Tammy :)
