Hi, Welcome to " The Group", hope you'll stick around.
HOT WEATHER, makes me feel very ill and most of my muscles tune into Wet Noddles, this is call muscle fatigue.
I have had MS a long time but was DX 231/2 years ago. I have never had a remission at least not yet ;-)
As for the heat sensation in your leg, it sounds like the nerves are doing what I call "misfiring" you are so right about it not being a nice sensation . It can be very painful.
I hope your new Neuro will be a good one.
Take care and feel better soon {{{~!~}}}
Hi Jayson,
Are you on a dmd? I'm sorry I don't remember that. Since your old neuro labeled you a mild case, I think that needs to be reviewed with the new neuro. there is no way to know if you have MILD MS while we are still alive.
I'm sorry you are experiencing this new irritating symptom - hopefully it will quiet down soon.
be well,
Lulu
I get this burning A LOT. Its very common in MS. It is called Parasthesias I think there is a thread dedicated to this on here somewhere.
I was told (though I havent been diagnosed with MS), THAT any new symptoms that last for more than 2 days you should report so I would tell your new neurologist about these symptoms. You can get relief with amytriptyline for Parasthesias.
I find that I cant have a hot shower now, as the water stimulates Parasthesias burning onto my skin especially around the back of my right leg. I made the mistake the other day thought I would have a shower instead of a tepid bath (i cant even have a hot bath anymore), and the shower wouldnt regulate properly and I got hot water on the back of my leg, and for 2 days (YES 2 DAYS), I had this burning in one spot and then it just went like it came.
So yes hot weather and hot water has a profound effect on my wellbeing too.
If you check out Parasthesias you will see it covers burning as well as tingling, fizzing and prickling.
I'm not yet Dx, but get these warm to hot sensations, they don't hurt and it is usually on my weak leg or sometimes on my arms. Mine are like a patch of heat that can last up to a few minutes, then gone..but usually comes back in another area?
let your new Neuro know about this..OK
take care

thanks so much for the responses. yes, i get paresthesias too, but this one is more like what wobbly is talking about. that weird kind of heat. and oh, you better bet i'll be telling my new neuro about this :). i'm not sure what was up with my doc telling me my case was "mild". since i last saw her, i've taken 2 major falls, had an episode of double vision and now my leg. so, this new neurologist will get an earful. :)
thanks,
jayson
Hi, I have had somewhat of a similar experience. I awoke at 3 in the morning and it felt as though someone lit the left half of my face on fire. It burned like hell for 15 hrs and then went away as suddenly as it came. 6 weeks later it happened again. same thing same side but this time it lasted about 12 hours. again it came as suddenly as it left. I have not seen my new neuro since this happened but I told my gp about it yesterday and she said it is caused by the nerves in your body. she also said to be sure to tell the neuro when I go in Aug. I have recently also had the 3 fingertips of my right hand go numb on me for about an hour and then they would be fine. that has happened to me twice in the past 3 weeks. again the gp said that was also the nerves misfiring in the body. hope you feel better. roncart
Thanks for sharing that. I'm sorry to hear that happened on your face, it's bad enough with my leg. I figured it was probably some type of neuro MS thing, but since my last neuro said I was "mild" it's been hard for me to decide what is causing what...also because i have psoriatic arthritis, I get confused. :P
