time inbetween mri's

Hi everyone, I am due to go see neuro next month and spoke to receptionist today to confirm appointment.
Anyway my last mri will then be almost 6 months ago, the lady told me it's best to wait 12 months inbetween mri's, I was going to get mri just before seeing him, so I could get results with him at the appointment.
Is 6 months inbetween mri's too soon, should I wait till the end of the year, I am still suffering burning, twitching, numbness, dizziness, but nothing new, this last 12 months I've had 2 clear mri's and a neg L.P.
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi thanks for posting, I'm in Australia, it must be different here to get a mri than it is wherever you are. I don't need insurance, all I do is call and book myself in for mri of brain and whole spine with and without contrast, fax my referral to them and get in for the mri in about 2-3 weeks from booking it.
Last couple I only paid $100 and medicare covers the rest, I think all up it was about $1200 so really our system here is excellent.
Actually I paid for the first, the second I just signed a slip and never paid a cent.
It was all done privately too, not publicly.
We are very lucky here, I know some of you have a long wait and have to get insurance also. The mri that showed multiple lesions was that your first????????

I asked a similar question earlier and no one responded, so I thought I would respond to you so you don't feel skipped over.

I'm thinking that since I had some big symptoms this weekend and still am fatigued, I'm going to ask for a new brain MRI even though it's only been 3 months since my last one, which showed multiple small lesions.  If I'm having a flare or a vascular event, I want an MRI with contrast to show it in black and white.

Will your insurance cover it?  If so, or if you can afford it, call  his office to see if he will order a new MRI.  It doesn't hurt to ask, and you might be pleasantly surprised.

I'm sorry you are suffering. It can be so frustrating to wait and suffer and wait and have no answers.

I wish you peace,

Kathy
