What are you doing? Weekly activity thread - November 30th through December 6th

Might as well get the ball rolling.  In case any of you don't know it already, we traditionally update one another on our goings-on at the beginning of each week.  Nothing is mandatory, nor verboten.  Tests, doctor visits, treatments, job interviews, family gatherings, vacations, haircuts...  You name it, we'll talk about it.

Lol, saying "jab" must be a UK thing, I didn't even think about it. It does kinda make it sound almost a fun thing though.

Enjoy the Christmas show, I love to hear choral singing.

Tomorrow, 10:30 appt. with MS nurse; follow-up and bloodwork, and increase my Avonex dosage. Hopefully, Dr. C. will have talked my insurance into paying for my Provigil (I can dream, can't I?) Pick up some prescriptions on the way home.

I'll try to find a seasonal flu shot somewhere this week, as everywhere I go people are coughing, sneezing, etc. and I don't want to get the flu.  I don't think we have enough H1N1 vaccine here yet, so I probably won't find that.

Other than that, just try to be healthy and enjoy life.  Oh, and try to catch up with all of you on the forum.

had my emg today. They managed to get both my arm and leg in instead of having to go to two different appts. Waiting for results. He seemed to have a really hard time getting some of my nerves to "signal." I'm not sure if that's normal??? Hopefully Dr. F. will call me with results.

Wednesday I'm in for fun at the pulmonologists office.
I'm having full pulmonary function tests as my 3 month check to make sure my lung drug regime is working or not.  Fingers crossed that all is well as I don't want to be on steroids again anytime soon.

Wishing all the rest of you good appointments with your doctors/therapists.

Forgot to add, I don't have to go back to the neuro for 4 months. Seems like a huge milestone to me~  I will take any good I can get!

Today, had appt with MS neuro. Best visit in a year, yeah! I am doing really well with the AFO and "leg/foot" cramping med she put me on in September. It really helps me sleep at night.

Went to my area MS society and picked up 4 holiday bags to deliver to MS patients who are housebound, or in nursing homes. My boys and hubby will help me deliver within the next 2 weeks of so. Makes me feel grateful.

Taking my father to the doc in about an hour. He is not well, and can't stand up without falling over. I just pray that it is "no big deal". Have certainly had our fair share of "big deals" this year. Hope it is "nothing."

Tomorrow, exercise, and take it easy.

Wed, work

Thursday, therapist appt.

Friday, exercise and lunch mom.

Sat, work.

Thanks it, Thanks PD for starting this!

I love the way you say jab instead of shot or injection.  Makes it sound sort of like sombebody's just poking you for sport.

I am seeing my PCP for the annual fun and games on Tuesday.  My chorus is having our big Christmas show this weekend, and I'm still trying to learn new music for it.  Well, it's new to me, old to the rest of the chorus, so we don't spend much time on it.  Good thing there are lots of us, so nobody will be able to tell I'm just mouthing words in spots.  Should be a great time, but I'll be glad when it's over so I can enjoy listening to Chrismas carols without getting confused.

I have an EMG of my arm this afternoon - have to wait for next mon for the leg because they messed up the appointment.

Otherwise, work and setting up grow lights in the basement. Have some potential to possibly get a foral display cooler cheap. Not sure if it's a great idea before my Christmas shopping is done though!

Happy Monday!

This week I only have knee PT schduled for now. But I do have to call the VA about my new meds and not sure if I'll have to run up to Nashville about that stuff or not right now.

I'm quite excited and scared at the same time, as Dec. 2nd is coming up and I'll be getting the Visual EP, BAEP and SSEP all in the same day. It's an hour drive to where I have to get the tests, and my mother was kind enough to offer to drive so I don't have to, and to just basically be there for support.

I cannot wait until all this is over! Although I feel crushed about what's going on, I also feel somewhat at peace that I know after 24 excruciating years, and I'm hoping and praying for some wonderful medication that will help with the pain and progression. At the same time, I feel like it's a new beginning, almost like being born all over again, and starting my life anew.

Good luck, everyone, and know you'll be in my prayers! ♥

I'm thinking that this is a down week for me, with just a therapeutic massage scheduled.  The next few weeks I'm cramming in a few final dr. appts. for the year before my copay doubles Jan 1.

Don't we all hate having to play the angles to get the most of our insurance?

as always,
Lulu

PastorDan, good luck Friday!
When will there be an opportunity for having insurance again?  Very long?  Before the MRI?

summerluvr:  don't worry, I don't remember lying still for an entire hour for any of the MRIs I've had, there were stops & starts.  You should be able to take along a dvd of something you'd like to listen to that'll make the time not seem so long (take the earphones _and_ the ear covers they should offer).

My next regular neuro visit isn't til January, but tomorrow I have a follow-up with my surgeon for a pathology report on the duct excision done on the 20th (am worried about having possibly blown the other boob too, pardon my ffrench).  On Tuesday, I'll have a physical here and across the river, a meeting with the oncologist who wants to know about the pathology report, followed by a regularly scheduled port flush.  Thursday, there's a weekly Memoir Writing class (my husband joined in this time) - great fun.

tomorrow is my spinal MRI.  After waiting for it for 8 months! (I'm in Ontario Canada)

I had cystoscopy last week, everything looked normal.  My urologist is confident in his diagnosis of nerve related bladder retention.  At this point he would like to attribute it to damage from herpes virus which I've had for 10 years, other then the initial never had outward signs, but apparently it can still be doing damage inside (or some other virus).  But je would like to see the spine MRI though.  For the last 6 weeks I have not had any issue with emptying so maybe it was self limiting?

I'm told the spine MRI takes an hour.  Are you laying still in the tube the whole time?  I'm not bad with small spaces as I'm pretty small, but laying still for an hour in the tube might be hard?

I'm starting to feel lika an old-timer around here, so I figured I'd start the usual Sunday night talk.

I revisit the regular eye doc's digs on Tuesday to get my new glasses.

Friday, I go back to the neuro-ophthalmologist to discuss double vision, eye pain, and anything else he'll be willing to discuss.  I believe I'll mention that my insurance will end soon, so he'd better do what he can while it can be done.

I'm going back to him because my latest neuro (#4) thinks we've pretty much run the gamut, and doesn't want to do anything else now until May, when he proposes an updated MRI to look for changes.

Hopefully, someone along this trek will at least be able to better attack the symptoms, even if the root cause remains an enigma.
