OT - Ways to beat cabin fever

Our Deer friend Wonko (are you happy I finally used that one?) has a journal post about things she has done to beat cabin fever.  She is in Maryland, and is now on either day 5 or 6 of being stuck at home.

Here's a few of the things she has done-

- dug her car out, twice.

- taken three baths.

- baked cookies until she ran out of sugar.

I think it would be interesting to hear how you are handling the housebound days of these wicked storms.  I hope you'll add to Wonko's list - maybe some others can use your ideas for creative inspiration.

stay warm,
Lulu

Julie - do you have a dog or cat?  You could always spend some time spinning your own yarn fibers from their hair!

I'm in VA and am going into Day 6 of home-bound hibernation.

This is how I have spent my time staying busy during the snow strorm.

1. For the first time in my whole life I completed a Jigsaw Puzzle.  It was only 500 pieces, but hey you have to start somewhere.

2. Cooking and baking.  Geez, that has been a lost art for many years since we have been living simply since the kids left home.

3. Crocheting.  Used up all my yarn now on a blanket I'm making.  One to another project.

4. Got so excited about having a voicemail at work and called from home to take care of a field organizations problem with one of their employees.  :) I'm getting paid right now, so why not answer work calls.

5. Calling every friend and family member I know.  I wonder if Verizon will give me a snow emergency discount when I go over my minutes.

6.  Got some cleaning done on the house getting ready for our move.

7.  Online shopping. Need I say more.

8. Reading a book I picked up a month ago called "From Stones to Schools" about an American who funded the first girls school in Afghanistan.  At met the guy when he was deployed so I feel obligated to read it now. Good so far.

9. Dreaming and dreading of the work load that will be on my plate when I get back.

10. Sadly admit I've been lured into daytime TV.

Can't wait for life to go back to normal.

I enjoy playing hidden object games on my computer.  They pass the time and also keep my interest.  Of course that's only if she has electric.  We have a generator so when our power goes out I can still have the computer to keep me company.  If someone is with you a good ole fashion game of Gin Rummy can get the blood flowing pretty good.  The last 2 years due to ice storms we have had power outages that lasted several days each time. I can always think of something to do besides work lol.

I'll be praying,
Carol

Until today we were having balmy weather in the high 50's.  Today we are back to our light rain.  Our yards are still green and my sisters crocuses are blooming.

I will huff and puff and blow some of this magical weather and warmth your way.

Wonko, you're spiro-alling out of control.  Want to join me at a party tonight?  I'm going stag and they're having beer and lime with tequila shooters.  Yeah, weak, I know....

I'm shocked that the alternating finger nail polish didn't make the highlight reel.

Oh, and no worries Lu, I'm just fawning over your pun.  It doesn't bug me at all, nor tick me off in the slightest.  Your humor is delightfully infectious.
