Coincidence?

My brother is HIV positive. Both of his Ex wife's have MS that presented itself after meeting him. they don't claim to have HIV but positive for MS. I'm very confused! Is this just coincidental or can there be something about this?

My money would be on misinformation in this case.  The two diseases have not been linked in anything I've read, and I have now been five years chasing information about MS and its' myriad mimics.

Could be coincidence, could be misdiagnosis, could be somebody's not being entirely truthful-- I know that HIV still carries a stigma in many circles, and someone could be too embarrassed to admit that's the cause of their symptoms.

Carrie and Kyle have a oth posted good info here.  I hope you find satidfaactoty andwers.  God bless.

Hi Bookworm- Welcome to our world.

Are you asking if MS is communicable, having relations with an HIV + person for example. I highly doubt it. I have never heard anything that even hints at MS being contracted by contact with another person. MS is in no way, shape or form "catchable" :-)

I don't know of any connection and there is a lot I don't know about this still.  I'm recently diagnosed though and I know that the doctor ran an HIV test when running all the other tests and she explained that she had to rule out all the other diseases that can mimic MS and HIV is one of those.  I won't speculate on that but do they have an MS diagnosis or is it just suspected?  If they aren't diagnosed yet it may not be MS but HIV since it can mimic MS, they will find this out though as they do testing for the mimic diseases to rule them out.
