This Fathers day is extra special, because my son is still on this earth !!!!
I can now update everyone on the status of my son's T- cell Lymphoma non-Hodgkin's cancer .
If your not aware last fall my youngest son had chest pain, he went to the ER In August 2011 and Xray was performed and meds were given for what they thought was an infection. Speed up a to October BT was back at the ER and large mass was seen pressing on the lungs- it was CANCER.. BT is only 25 and serving our Nation.
We went thru a period where we didn't know if the the Lymphoma had spread to his lymph nodes. Or what type of cancer this was.
When I was able to fly down and see my son, and met his team of Dr's he had, I recall the one Oncologist saying with his age no other health problems if you could pick a cancer to get, this is the one, with a 90% cure rate.
BT started Chemo , what is called CHOP, and went thru all sort of horrible side effects, as you know weight loss, hair and even brain swelling - temporary hearing loss. I was there when is first round of Chemo was started.
Last week BT had his PET-scan completed and his follow up appointment was yesterday -
The scan has revealed his cancer is in remission, the mass doesn't show on the scan.

BT will now start a maintenance program of a lessor chemo & other drugs for 3 years call POMP. This is a once a month chemo & daily meds..
Despite all of this, he would like to stay in the service, they won't discharge until he has completed all of his care, he will continue to receive full pay and benefits.
He has returned to his unit, work for BT is reporting, paper work, inventory and watching videos. BT is free to go each day as feels the need.
Should BT get a medical discharge he would receive a full 100 % pay and insurance.
I want to thank everyone for their positive thoughts & prayers and PM'S.
JB.
