Disability Benefits

I am currently undiagnosed and struggling financially. Is it possible to get SSD without a diagnosis? So many times I have wanted to apply, but I am so scared that I will be turned down. I stay home with my kids, but have also been self employed (part time) from my home for several years. Lately I have been able to work very minimally, for my job requires me to be at the computer for long periods of time and I can no longer tolerate sitting at the computer for the time required to bring in adequate supplemental income for my family. I did not realize how much we really relied on what I bring in until I cut way back on my work time. I planned to go full time with this as the kiddos get older and now don't know where to turn.
Is it worth applying for SSD without a diagnosis? Will they even consider my application? Any advice would be wonderful. Thanks so much. :)

Thanks for the advice. As far as I know my docs don't have me diagnodsed with anything. My neuro. expressed the possibility that it could be Chronic Fatigue, but I don't think he has "officially" dx'd me with this. I am trying to get an appointment with my primary doc to see what she thinks.

You need to have a diagnosis of some kind in order to apply.

Even though you haven't been diagnosed with MS, you could stress a different component of your illness that you are experiencing.  For example,  I had a friend apply for SSD benefits when she was diagnosed with Chronic Fatige Syndrome,  she had to stress the 'depressive part' of her illness to get her benefits.

A diagnosis of MS does not itself qualify you for benefits.  Even with MS you have to show that you can't work.

Do you know how your current docs have you diagnosed right now?
