Dr here yesterday for follow-up

Hi everyone!

Saw Dr yesterday, I'm one of the lucky ones my doctor comes to me, I don't have to go to him, (Visiting Doctors aka housecalls) I was weighed, had reflexes checked again, we discussed my upcoming visit to Neurologist, he still hasn't gotten my records from Florida yet and said he'll have is office staff call and find out if they've mailed them yet.

He's hoping to have my records from FL to go over and send any pertinent info to neurologist before my appointment, we went over my symptoms and what I should discuss with my neurologist, wants me to be sure I take my MRI report & my MRI scan with me to appointment, he also said to have someone very familiar with me and my symptoms along to help in discussing my symptoms, that I trust, so my sister who's taking me is going to be the one in the exam room also, since she knows me the best overall, and has witnessed first hand the deterioration.

He also ordered an increase in Visiting Nurse Services, because of the recent abdominal pain episode and weight loss, as well as, the episodes of Dilantin toxicity and non-therapeutic Dilantin level, right now it's therapeutic, but wants to watch it closely, to make sure it stays that way.

I also told him about this feeling on my right side (about where my kidney is) like I've got a fist punching me from the inside out, it doesn't hurt when palpated, so he's going to order an ultrasound to see if there's any abnormalities, since I have a hx of a hematoma on my liver & on my spleen found in the '90s.

So I've got a nice list of questions I should ask my neurologist, plus a rundown of what I need to tell him, and the best way to get the important issues across, he told me don't be discouraged we'll figure out what's going on, stay positive.

So I'm trying.

That is fantastic to have a doctor that not only comes to you but tells you not to get discouraged because they will figure it out!

You are very lucky. Even if you don't feel like it in the days/ weeks to come just keep reminding yourself how VERY rare it is to have a doctor like you do.

Good luck & Hang in there
Hugs,
Erin :)

We have that here. The cost of them coming out would be worth it for many who can not drive. They waive the fee for retirement communities.

By all means clone him,  if you live in Michigan you could probably even have one of his group of physicians come to you.  They've got a website check them out, you could even show your doctor what a group of doctors are doing in Michigan, maybe get the ball rolling there.

The website is http://www.visitingdoctors.net/ if a group of doctors in MI can do it so can others.

They even have a mobile x-ray service, and can do ekgs, eegs, etc. Plus they have an ophthalmologist that will come and do your eye exams in your home.  They're working to get more services offered to those housebound as quickly as they can. They're trying to figure out some way full radiology services can be brought to the patient rather than the patient to the radiology services right now.

Wow, Suz, can we clone your doctor?

It's been eons since I've even heard of a doctor making housecalls, and yours sounds like the best. It's almost as if he's a forum member, because he gave you all the right advice. He encouraged you, supported you, and said all the right things. But on top of that, he has authority to act and to make things happen.

So please feel better and keep relying on this doc as you pursue a neuro diagnosis. I'm sending best wishes to you and to him.
