Hi Frank,
You might want to see an Ophthalmologist. Eye pain can be caused by many different things, not MS related. (Conjunctivitis, dry eye, allergies, glaucoma, corneal abrasion, foreign body (dirt etc) , ). Check it out if the pain continues.
Take care,
Michelle
Hi Tonya, Thanks. I never thought of eye neuropathy. I had a passing incling about the BP but never gave it much thought.
Yes, as a mater of fact I do have high BP. And it has been difficult to control. GP, and cardiologist dont know why. I'm currently being seen by a nephrologist, but so far everything is negative. Typically, the BP is normal or slightly elevated. The highest it has ever gotten is 190/130 w/ a pulse of 130. And it may go on like this for a few days and then back to normal or slightly elevated. But what you are saying makes more sense. There does not appear to be any damage to optic nerve as per my neuro-opthamologist but I have not seen him since my dx last May. Perhaps its time for another visit. Thanks for your input, it's hlpful.
Good night.
Frank
I've had three rounds of eye pain, it lasts for about two each time, I have followed up each time with opthamologist , each time there wasn't any damage that he could he.
the Dr will be most concerned if you vision has changed or you have color shifting in one eye.
Well that's my two cents worth.
take care
John
Hey there Frank!
Sorry you are having to deal w/ the eye issues.
Wondering, Do you have a hx of high B/P? Or are you Diabetic?
Otherwise from what I know Eye neuropathy it is a rare neuropathy (nerve damage) that affects the nerves of the eyes or eye-related nerves in the face. Although it is most commonly associated with feet neuropathy, neuropathy is a generic term for nerve damage, and diabetic neuropathy can strike any body nerves.
Yes, you can have eye pain w/out Optic Neuritis. I have to say also that I have had those sharp, lightning like, streak in my left eye many times over the years. Just comes out of no where, and leaves the same way...With that said, I personally think that you can have some (TYPE) of a neuropathy in the eye other than what I wrote in the first paragraph.
Good idea, definately call Neuro tomorrow.. Keep us posted.
Take Care,
~Tonya
