so scared, keep reading and finding i must have ms

I just read that my neuro exam 3 years ago that it showed I have hyper reflexes in my knees.  Then i just read on the internet that that always means there is a problem with the spinal cord, as in lesions.

Then, i read my mri report.  I only had mri's of the brain and cervical spine.  (they were normal) My main and first symptom is urinary or bladder issues.  So, i dont understand why just the cervical spine was done, and not thoratic and lumbar.

And i also read that if there are lesions found in the spine, it means a bad prognosis.

Can anyone help me with these questions.  I am going to loose my mind.

I read all three of the threads that you started today.  I am a bit confused, it sounds like you have been diagnosed with MS years ago.  Are you taking one of the DMD's or just the Effexor?

It's possible to have a remission of many years.  But it sounds like you are unsure about your illness.

The hyper-reflexia can be described many ways.  With one knee jumps so high that the neurologist jumps out of the way.  The other knee has to be hit several times and then only elicits a very small twitch in my bit toe.

I think you are really paniced right now and you need to slow down.  MS is a chronic illness.  Sometimes reading on the internet can really get you into trouble.  It's good to have knowledge but what is out there is confusing and just plain wrong at times

I agree with JJ,  stop, and take a breath.  Write down the things you are concerned with and place the list somewhere safe.  Get involved in something else like work, taking care of plants, anything.

Take a deep breath

Hugs,   Red

I do have an appointment with my PCP on Wednesday for a check-up.  I'll ask him for an anti-anxiety medication.  I used to be on Effexor, but it didnt help that much.

Thanks for your help.

I think it would help if I had support from my family.  He just doesnt think I have MS, and doesnt understand why Im so nuts about it.  Same with my mom.

I know they just dont want me to have it and can't beleive it would happen to someone that close to them...I understand that, but at the same time I need someone to say whatever it is, they will be there for me, and if i need to go see the dr. they will go with me and we will deal with this together.

I have to be honest with you, I am very uncomfortable responding because I think your anxiety issues are being fueled by all your reading and to be brutally frank, if you want help and peace, then you really need to see your dr about your anxiety which seems to be in control of you at the moment!

Please believe me when I say, even if you did have a disability like MS, I and many others would still be telling you to get help for your anxiety issues. Once anxiety is under control life is so much easier to deal with, no matter what your cicumstances are. Please please go and see your dr and tell him/her about all your health worries, you dont need to feel this way, the solution is there, just take that first step.

Anxiety is what is making you feel like your loosing your mind! Take back control by getting rid of your anxiety, to do that you need medical help, so please go see your dr.

Cheers........JJ

Ok, i reacted too soon. On another website i read that brisk reflexes can be normal as long as they are not assymmetrical.  The report said my knees had brisk reflexes, it said nothing about only one being brisk.  I hope I am reading all of this right.  WHEW!! I almost had a coronary.  Although I still believe i have ms.

Does anyone know how important it is to have an mri of the t-spine?
