Finally Started Betaseron

Well the Beta Nurse just left.  I did my first dose of Betaseron today.  More anxiety over possible side effects then teh shot itself,  Shots dont really bother me as I am a nurse.  But still have the anxiety over side effects.  Shot itself wasnt bad, not itch or redness like I had with teh copaxone.   I took ibuprophen, and hopefully I dont get any flu like symptoms.  Will do next shot on Saturday.

Well,  I have now done 5 injections of Betaseron..no side effects so far (0.25mg dose right now)  This has been a very stress free shot for me.  When I was on copaxone I was so anxious over the possible reaction of chest pain etc..and then the immediate reaction of stinging pain and baseball size welts,  this is a breeze.  Hopefully it continues with ease and I can continue on this DMD.  Just wish it would take my symptoms away,  Id rather have a cure.  Will have blood work done in 3 weeks to see how Im holding up.

They are manageable for me - and I hope it's the same for you. I never did get symptoms comparible to the real flu. Once your body get use to the meds, it gets even better.

Don't be surprised if you don't get any affects. Beta has a titrating dose right?

Good! Side effects of the interferons are sometimes nasty, but on the other hand, it generally is quite easy to manage them. Pre-medicating works very well for most people. If the ibuprophen wears off too soon, next time take a longer-lasting formula of some sort.
