For those Dx'd- What was your IgG index?
For those of you who have been dx'd with MS and went through CSF testing, do you know what your IgG Index was?
A high IgG Index has a strong correlation to MS, even in the absence of O bands. I just got my CSF test results back. Both the CSF and Serum IgG levels were low, but the albumin levels were within normal range. My IgG Index is .51, with anything below .66 considered normal. I did see one graph with a small percentage of people diagnosed with MS whose Index was between .5 and .6.
Also, if anyone out there knows how stable the serum Albumin level is, that would be useful information for me. I had an extensive panel of blood work done on 4/27/10 and the albumin level was 5.3 or outside of the 3.5-5.2 range. The LP was done on 5/4/10 and the albumin level one week later was 4.6. Of course this could be due to different laboratory tests.

can the IgG index value vary ofver years for MSers?
that is, is it possible to have a high IgG index when the onset happens such as with CSF infection & spine injury/trauma, then o-bands appear...then years later, still have the obnads but the IgG index isn't a remarkable value?

1986:
the second LP from the san diego naval hospital shows IgG index calculated at 1.95 with o-bands but doesn't say how many o-bands, and with increased wbc in csf.
2009: the fourth LP shows a IgG index i think in a normal range but with more o-bands

One O-Band
IgG Index = 1.89
None of the other numbers concerning albumin and IgG levels are important. They are all just needed to calculate the Index.

I don't have my report in front of me, but I believe mine was w/in range. I did have 0 bands in CSF though.
