Cin,
Nice to see you Cin. You can be experiencing parathesia from the attack, but you can also just have it as a chronic prob from your MS too. Heck, it even comes and goes as it pleases. But, since it's new, and the doc treated your relapse, to be certain, he's ordered the MRIs to see if there has been any progression in terms of lesions. That's a good doc.
Med switches do not necessarily mean you are beyond your original. At times the switch is suggested for the simple fact that what works for one, may not work for another. Doctor may not like the two relapses in one year and wants to see less - just giving you some other possibilities.
Doc may decide not too if there are no changes, or may leave it up to you.
There are some symptom relief meds. My doc suggested lyrica for my paraesthesia, but I didn't take it - some have done well on it though. After a few months, it did subside on it's own, and I was sure happy.
You know your allowed 2 more questions, hahah Juuust kidding. You should know we have no limit :)
Hope this helps,
-Shell
I always have more questions.
This relapse has been totally different than the last. Of course they always are. The last one was brought on by stress, the holidays and my Mom almost died. This time I cannot figure out what brought it on. I got really fatiqued, and then the sharp pains in my eye, then my arms and legs went.
Now its the burning of the leg and dizzy. Oh so many joys!
You are awesome Shell, thank you so much for replying. This was the first time I have had the burning in my legs.
I think my first Neurologist gave me Lyrica and I had an issue with it. I couldn't urinate. That is a very important function.
I hope you have a wonderful day!
I get the burning pain in the backs of my thighs. I don't think mine is related to a relapse though - it just seems to be on and off maybe every other day. I just started another round of IV SoluMedrol. I also have the pain and heaviness in my legs all the time, but that has just got progressively worse over the last year or so.
Is your neuro considering running an MRI on your spine, too? It may be a good idea.
About switching from Copaxone to something else - like Shell said, what works for some, may not work for others. Everyone is different. You should just do what's best for you.
Take Care,
Kelly
