Greek yogurt and MS

I am new to this forum and new to MS.  I have read that people with MS should stay away from dairy products.  I love greek yogurt and wonder if this a bad to eat.  I know it is a dairy product but should I not eat it again?

I 2nd enjoying greek yogurt!

Geesh - what people won't come up with (not you of course) just that it's been said somewhere on this www that MSers shouldn't have it is all the more reason for us to be here and keep the facts straight.

I'll eat mine (especially love it with pineapple), until it's proven that yogurt (or other things I find decadent) causes a breach in our blood brain barrier allowing for an outright seige on our central nervous system enough to cause demyelinating lesions and damage.

Thank you much for trusting us to our thoughts!

p.s. What's your favorite?

There are alternative therapies that recommend not eating gluten, dairy, red meats, as well as other items.  I don't know that it's actually helpful though.  I am allergic to dairy (causes respiratory problems) and I am sensitive to wheat gluten (though not Celiac).  I have had significant disease activity, even following this diet.

I wasn't following this diet because of MS, it's just necessary for other health reasons.  I have several friends who also eat this way, because eliminating these food groups is supposed to reduce inflammation in the body.  Again, I don't think there's any way to be certain that it helps.

Yogurt is a little different though.  It's already predigested, and the beneficial flora a very important.   Can you ask someone at your neurologist's office what they think?

There are no dietary restrictions with MS, although there are a lot of claims unsubstantiated by evidence.

Your doctor will tell you that eating a well-balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables is the best way to be healthy, with or without MS.

I have never been told to stay away from dairy products, and honestly I've not heard of other MS patients having been told that. I say enjoy your Greek yogurt!
