confused about ms

my cousin was diagnosed with ms on monday.  he was having balance problems and had an mri.  The MRI showed 15 spots on his brain.  he was admitted to the hospital immediately and another MRI was done on his spine and it showed that it was covered with plaque.  my question is...if anyone knows....what kind of an outcome is he looking at...more so...what kind of life is he going to have.  is there any hope for him?  he is sooo young.  he just turned 21 in july.....anyone that can answer this please please do so.  thank you soooo much in advance

Hi Kerki,

I'm sorry to hear the news about your cousin, you must be worried.  But it's good they've run the MRI's at the hospital.  With MS, everyone is different, however there are common signs and symptoms, and then there are some that are not so common.  He's going to have to consult with a Neuro once he's through with his hospital stay.  That's if they've not already lined him up with one. The Dr will go over all his options, and he should bring someone with him, so he can remember everything.  You'll find a lot of information here, that might be helpful for you in a support role for him.

Be well,
SL

Did the doctor say what type of MS he has?  There are different types.
