Take the nuvigil as early as possible. For a while I set an alarm to wake me up a couple hours early just to take my pill. Then in my opinion take the cymbalta an hour or so before bed. I take cymbalta and provigil so I have made mistakes with both of them when I decide I can do whatever I want. I can but I generally regret it LOL.
And don't be nervous about them, they are supposed to help, give them a chance. And if you end up with a touch of insomnia someone is always on here to chat with :)
I hope they work out for you, good luck
Msmisbs is absolutely right. Take the nuvagil as early in the morning as you can. My neuro warned me about this up front saying "take it as soon as you get up because I don't want you curising me because you can't sleep at night". It was funny at the time, but I took it too late once and boy did I regret it. Now I take it by 6 am and definitely not after 8 am.
Good-luck. You will be amazed how much it helps the fatigue.
I left a long note on your other question. Anyone who has trouble with Nuvigil keeping them up at night might do better taking Provigil. It is supposed to have a shorter duration of action. I found this to be true and I have taken both. Besides, Provigil is scheduled to be available in generic form in 2012. That should make it a little more affordable for you or your insurance company.
Don't worry too much Nanci. Nuvigil isn't a drug you have to take every day. If you miss a night's sleep as you adjust to the drug you can always skip it a day and play sleep catch up. Nuvigil doesn't replace your need for sleep so you have to be careful to monitor that you are getting enough.
Once you know how it works for you, your doctor might have you adjust the dose from day to day depending on what degree of alertness or rest you need for a day. This might sound strange but it is similar to what PwMS do with drugs like baclofen. We learn to adjust the meds to fit the day's functional need. Living with MS is a very long learning curve. You'll get the hand of it. No hurry.
