Heart Rate and possible constricted jugular vein???

Hey Quix...looks like you have been pretty busy of late and I understand if you don't answer right away but I have a question that you may be able to help me with.  With all the talk going on about the CCSVI it got me to thinking.  You may remember that I had been going to the Lung Function Clinic and when I was exercising my heart rate would drop drastically from say 94bpm to 55bpm and after having a EEG and a holter monitor there was nothing found.

Now...what I am wondering is if there could be a relation between and constricted jugular vein and my heart rate lowering upon exertion.  I am probably way off base here but if the blood is not moving properly which I am guessing it wouldn't with said constriction, wouldn't that cause my heart to beat slower????

I am stabbing in the dark here and may be waaayyyy off base but I figure it is worth tossing around since nothing else that goes on with me is considered normal right??? hehe

I appreciate you taking any spare minute you have to just say yay or nay or even HOLY HANNAH RENA...I THINK YOU MAY BE ON TO SOMETHING!!! tee hee

Lots of Hugs,
Rena

Just a thought...you may want to post on the Dysautonomia Board
(Autonomic Dysfunction). Or just read a couple of the post.

Sounds like you will certainly find your answer there. It actually has a name for what you are descibing (sp)?

Thanks Quix...you are the doc here and I had no idea if there would be a correlation or not!  Just thought I would ask...it was worth a try!  Thanks again!

Hi, Rena, I can't see a correlation.  If the blood return to the heart is decreased it results in a HIGER heart rate.

The nodes that control blood pressure are nerves clusters around the carotid arteries and not the veins.

The only mechanism I could even imagine - and I am making this up, rather than linking with something I actually know, would be an effect in the brainstem.  ????

I don't see it.
