I am going to school to be a counsler/social worker etc... what I have learned is everyone is crazy I have a big ol book of crazy dx's and we are all in there, it is to the degree and intensity of crazy and from the looks of the doctors we all put up with I think they (most) can be dx with dang lost the word hate my brain uh.....oh my gosh biggest brain fart all day.... oh ya NARRSICIST's
so we are crazy and that is a good thing if we weren't we would not be trying to get a dx and better.
not that this made any sense at all but it did to me:-)
see crazier then you all, ;-) I had better try to sleep the fog off eh?

I love you all and appreciate the wisdom, I really couldn't wait to come home and tell you all what happened today because you guys really understand me and your my friends.
Well I have my MRI tommorrow. The EEG is for the tremor and he wanted to make sure I dont have a seizure disorder because I have locking up muscle spasms. I forget some things and remembered a little more, sorry. I also understand you can have a cerebral tremor that can be caused by lesions in the brain.
Michael, I love the comment that we are specialists to train our doctors,, and I am by now probably certifiably CRAZY...
Thank you all for being here for me, I love you all.
Many, Many Hugs,
ADA
I think from what I am hearing that it was not all you wished it could be but the bottom line is he is doing the MRI's and an EEG, which is something. It appears to me this is a long difficult process and very much one little step at a time.
I am not surprised he did not look at your time line and i know it was disappointing and frustrating but many Doctors are like this, the Internal Medicine specialist i went to he would not look at my notes or read a letter from my nurse and he did not wish to take a copy of the medical notes from my brain injury in Australia .................I guess they think they do not want anything influencing them in any way and want to do their own discovering and figuring out.
After reading about peoples visits to Neurologists and even MS specialists there seems there are not too many personable ones about.
Try to relax now and take it a step at a time see after the tests what happens.
When are your MRI's?
I *chuckled* when you said you offended him i am sure he probably was as some of them seem so puffed up with their self importance, but he will get over it.
Big hugs
Sarah
Crazy, yes. I think I am crazy to think I can understand any of this.
You must be crazy too. We are all crazy.
No, not crazy just too d.a.m.n.e.d tired to think straight any more.
It is like we all have to be specialist to try to train our doctors.
Not sure, but I think I offended my neurologist today. Asked him about being trained well enough to read an MRI. Said, folks I talk to think that one should have an MS specialist to read an MRI properly to see MS leisions.
Oh well.
Hey honey...well the appointment is over but did you get anywhere? Let's see...you are booked for an MRI with and without...when is that for? He wants you to have an EEG...when is that for?
I think that this probably wasn't a waste of time per se'...you are going to have to go for these tests and if the MRI shows no lesions THEN you will see what kind of neuro he is right? If there is no lesions that he can see then obviously there is other testing that will have to be done and you will just have to see if he is going to have the smarts to move ahead and do it!
I would have a good laugh and just tell yourself that the waiting game isn't over but a least your game piece is moving on the board right?
I am anxious to hear what the movement disorder specialist has to say! Maybe once the testing is done by the neurologist and you get some info from the movement specialist you can throw the two of them together and see what they can come up with?!
In all seriousness Spastic I think it's sit back and wait time and see what this neuro has to offer once the results come back...you know we are behind you and will be anxiously waiting as well honey!
Lots of Hugs,
Rena
p.s. if what I said makes no sense it's caus i think i am having a brain fart due to the lovely lyrica...soorry
It sounds like he is following the appropriate course of action in terms of ordering further testing. I don't think MS can be dx'ed without evidence of at least one lesion along with other evidence. It is hard to have patience, but at least with this appt behind you, you are one step closer to answers.
Will you have to wait long for these tests? It IS interesting how he put it: that he wouldn't consider MS without a visible lesion. I would think given your symptoms, that "considering" MS at this point is totally reasonable. "Considering" is not "diagnosing." He is probably just being cautious to avoid distressing you (or getting your hopes up, as weird as that sounds).
It is unfortunate that he did not review your timeline. It seems so odd to me that he would not find this useful. How was his demeanour/bedside manner?
I do agree with Moki, that if he is not a MS Specialist, that it would be in your best interest to seek one out. Do you have access to a MS Clinic in your area?

This was a different one, I see the other one on the thirteenth, he is a movement disorder specialist.

I know how you are feeling right now oh so well. My appointment with a neuro 6 weeks went with him saying that my problem is definitely neurological which is the first anyone has done but this one did go on to say that he was pretty sure it was MS and wanted me to go to a MS specialist. Went to her and I'm kind of sitting wondering what the heck was going through her mind. She didn't even give me a may or may not be answer. She is doing another MRI and EP.
Is this new neuro a MS specialist? I think it may be prudent if not that you see one. The tremor may be why the EEG is being done as I did have that done with my leg tremors. It came back normal. I would for the moment get the tests done he has ordered and see what results come back and then make a decision from there.
I know you are disappointed at this point, I feel the same way. But we both know that this can be a very long road. Hang in there and know that you are not alone. May have a little cry and then a good laugh, I'll join you.
Hugs
Moki
Is this the one who witneesed your abnormal gait in the parking lot? If so, did he remember you?
