Help needed!

Hello all,
I am currently experiencing many different symptoms and would like some feedback as to what it all sounds like. At 10 I had meningitis hospitalized for a week. At 11 started to have numbness and tingling of both legs. Saw many doctors who suggested it was do to my menstrual cycle. I still don't see what the connection was with that. At 12 had menstrual cycle for almost a month hemoglobin got down to 3 and had to receive a blood transfusion also diagnosed with Migraines. At 18 had irregular pap smears twice and received cryosurgery both times. At 23 noticed bulging in private areas after many gyno and urology appointments was told I had stage 3 uterine prolapse and bladder prolapse. I was told I had pelvic floor dysfunction.  I had a child already so when I was told I needed hysterectomy because uterus couldn't be fixed I went ahead with it. Also at that time I received a TVT sling for bladder. I still have bladder problems and often have to self catheterize. For the past 19 years I have continued to have numbness of my legs along with my arms. Knee pain lower back pain. Honestly I have had a lot of random and unexplained sensations and pain and numbness. My optic nerve in my left eye is also enlarged. I have sensations on my legs and rib area as if someone is pouring cold water on those areas. I also get tired after doing the slightest things. Sorry about the length of this but I would like input.

The meningitis might have caused a viral infection of the spine, which would have created the problem with numbness and tingling.  Just a guess!

Your menstrual cycle doesn't sound like a neurological problem.  However, you do have some neurological symptoms.  The question at this point is what's causing the problem.

Damage to the spine will cause the paresthesia you describe, so I would investigate to see if your spine is healthy.  It could be nerve compression, lesion formation, or any number of things - so yes, I would go see the neurologist.  Just to eliminate that as a possiblity.

My current PCP has recently ordered blood work to check everything from my liver to B12, ANA, blood sugar, inflammation and etc. He also ordered lower back xray and EMG test. I am scheduled to see him October 14 to discuss the results. I am thinking the next step would be for him to send me to a Neurologist. I also have a family history of Lupus my mom and two sisters have it.
