Here I go again....

For the past week or so, my left leg has been real weak, I have been losing my balance, lower back is hurting (I'm sure from the way I am walking) Spasms are getting crazy again.

I just spoke with my neuro and going in tomorrow to see him and he is going to do an MRI of my spine to see if there are any active/new lesions. The pain is getting crazy. I am taking my muscle relaxers and gabapentin. Is there anything else that I can take to help ease the pain. The Zanaflex helps a lot but it also makes me very tired, or it could be that I am already so tired that it just adds to it.

Thanks for reading
Paula

Dilaudid is not an option for me, I have had it twice before and had a bad reaction to it both times.

I am on 1600 of gabapentin, lyrica use to help me alot more but me and medicines don't seem to get along and I had a reaction to that as well, may try it again in the near future to see if it works for me this time around.

Hi Jane! It has been a real long time. I have been going to school and working, along with taking care of mom, just stopped working though because of my balance and pain. I can't concentrate on things long enough to accomplish anything :/  I hope he comes up with something, if not I see a walker or at the least a cane in my near future.

I am going to see what he says tomorrow and go from there. Hopefully they can just do the MRI tomorrow so that he can look over them and we can make a game plan. He has an MRI in his office, different part of the office but still its there.

Thank you all,
Paula

Have you tried wine?

I'm only joshing because I have nothing better to offer :/ I just wanted an excuse to say "Hi" and "long time, no see". I hope everything else in your world is going well, and I'm sorry to hear about the pain. I'm glad your doc is going to do an MRI to try to see what's going on. I hate having to balance pain versus tiredness with those muscle relaxers.

Best,
Jane

Gosh, dilaudid is an opiate. I wouldn't go down that road unless absolutely necessary.

And opiates are not effective for nerve pain, if that's what this is, so wouldn't be a good substitute for something like Neurontin.

Hi, Paula. How much gabapentin/Neurontin are you taking? The max safe dose is said to be 3600 mg, so maybe you have room for an increase.

Hope you are soon better.
