From what I heard laying flat could make the pain worse, many sleep in a recliner to keep from laying flat. Not sure why this works it is just something that I have read on here.
Good luck,
Paula
Oh, I forgot to add that it is probably even worse with people with MS because of the demyelination of the nerves and scarring in the brain or spinal cord from current lesions or past lesions-- a very important thing to add.
I bet it's not normal to have a lot of this going on. Someone here can enlighten us. I'd probably call my neuro if this was new or increasing. :)
I have this problem, too. There have been times when I've woken up to a limb (very often my right arm) that is paralyzed. I hadn't slept on it wrong and it doesn't have any pressure on it. I"ve wondered this, too.
At present, my right leg has severe tingling when sitting on a soft couch with legs uncrossed too long. It probably has something to do with inactivity during these time periods, but I don't know the mechanism myself, so did a little research. I think I found the answer on this site:

The picture on the right is a little creepy, but the information is great!
Take care,
