I met a woman tonight...

at my sons football game.  We both had on our cooling neck devices, and she had on a cooling vest, was in a scooter and had a very large brace on her leg.  We were both in the shade. We looked at one another for some time, it was apparent we "shared" some similarity's due to exact same neck cooling device.

So, I started the conversation.  It ended up, of course, and MS conversation. She has had MS for 35 years. Did well until about 15 years ago. She has many unfortunate issues, speech, swallowing, urination problems etc.

Anyway, we had a nice conversation and it was wonderful to meet someone with MS, on the outside world and both of us being able to talk so easily about such "not easy" things. Even her husband got in the mix.  It was just a good talk, almost like being in a support group a bit.

Just wanted to share this, and by the way, I missed the whole football game!  So did she, and it was all worth it.

Michelle

My best friend was dx with RRMS 23 years ago, we met some 15 years ago and it was het that encouraged me to pursue a dx last year.

She has a very different attitude to me and prefers not to talk to anyone about her sx. But since I got my dx that has changed as she now knows that I do understand.

Strange world eh, it wouldn't do for us all to be the same -lol

That would be interesting to meet someone like that and just talk and find out what they have experienced and what you both have gone through.... in person would be different, we talk here online...and it's so nice to be able to do that online...

Shortly after I was diagnosed, I was talking to my boss about it, and she introduced me to someone else in my department with MS.  It was so nice to talk to someone who understands!  From the outside, other than a slightly wonky gait sometimes, I look totally normal.  I sure don't feel that way.  She's in the very same boat.

It's so nice to have someone understand!
