Has this happened to anyone????

I went to see the MS specialist yesterday...(he is an excellent MS specialist, writes articles for the MS society, ect...from what I have been told by many people) Brian Steingo if anyone has heard of him...ANYWAY..

While he was examining me yesterday...he became VERY concerned with my left eye and the way it moved ....or didn't move...(I wasn't feeling well yesterday,...weakness, imbalance, ect) .....I told him I had resently seen an Opthamologist that dx me with slight 6th nerve palsy in my RIGHT eye, but she said my left eye was fine..he kept "checking my left eye movement over and over and said my right eye was fine compared to my left! He called a neuro Opthomalogist and got me an appointment for this morning...

I saw the Neuro Opt. today....felt better today....he ran every test known to man on my eyes...my left eye was fine...(except minor things that showed up in other testing) he agreed with my regular Opthamologist that I had slight 6th nerve palsy in my right eye.

OK>>>Question is.....has this kind of strange thing happened to anyone out there?? ONE day your eye freaks out your MS specialist and the next day it is normal????LOL!  BTW, when I looked to the left yesterday my left eye felt funny and I could feel it jump.........today it felt fine when I looked to the left.. WEIRD!

Thanks for your responses!

Laurie  :)

LOL yeah but sometimes it doesn't matter who saw it, they still dont always believe what their 'own' neuro tests produced, no matter how many times they see it. I dont think i could ever forget neuro testing for clonus, my unilateral clonus had already been (neuro) discovered a year or so before. This guy for reasons only he can explain, didnt like my left leg almost kicking him in the head, i'm just annoyed it didn't :D

Here i am, left leg bent up like a pretzle, and when the jerking started, whoa nelly, who knew your leg can jerky bounce like that, very weird but the killer was the reactive muscle response that rippled upto my groin. One muscle spasming after the other, it hurt and felt like i was being tazered, you could even see the muscles reacting and no matter how many times he retested my left leg, no matter how complicated the distraction, only my left leg did that and it still kept doing it and doing it!

Yeah well that is what (unilateral) clonus looks and behaves like lol so you'd think that if repeating the test looking for clonus, and it does actually repeatedly produce the expected results for clonus, it would actually get called what it is, right? errrr strangley no, sometimes even seeing the abnormal just isn't enough sometimes. lol

I think your probably right, your neuro is going to be expecting the opthalmologists tests to prove what he was seeing, now that they haven't its anyones guess what he'll be thinking. One thing we know around here and that is, if the weird is happening it will show its self, eventually lol thats the nature of this game lol

Cheers......JJ

Thanks Candy!

I am happy to hear this can happen since these kinds of things happen to me a lot...(but not seen by a doctor)...I will have a "symptom" one day or a few hours...for it to be gone as quickly as it came...I often wondered if I was crazy.

I am actually very happy this happened BECAUSE the MS specialist is the one who SAW this "problem" with my left eye...(I didn't mention anything about by left eye) SO when he sees the report from the Neuro Opthomologist just ONE day later and all is perfectly fine....LOL he is going to be shocked, I'm sure...since he made such a big deal about it to me. :)

You know how it goes...if the docs can't SEE it they don't believe you....Well, this time HE saw it ...and another doctor says its not there! I LOVE it!  Talk about revenge! ;)

Hi Laurie, YES, I have had that happen to me many times actually.  This is where it is so frustrating to us.  They can make you feel like it is all in your head.  Don't let them do that though, question everything, and if needed write things down for your next appt.

I found it was best to be my own type of Dr. and then go to the Dr. and ask them for the treatments.  I do alot or research on things.

It is quite common to have things go wrong, and miraculously get better.   Those are the "Unknown" episodes that we all can add up in our life.

I know that there are lots of people here that have been in your shoes.  I am still there.... sorry to say.

Here's hoping that you have the energy to fight them, and make them somehow understand what you are feeling.  |This is the best place to rant, ( if needed), and support and great information.

Cheers,
Candy
