I need help and suggestions....

Hi everyone.  And Thank you for taking the time to read and respond.

Two years ago, my left side lost all function.  Just stopped working. They ruled out stroke, and sent me home a week later.  I have been fighting for 2 years for answers as to what is going on and still nothing.  My symptoms I get are the same every time.  my left arm and left leg both go weak, numb and stay very cold.  Im exhuasted all the time.  My episodes I get last a month long or a couple weeks.  sometimes just my leg goes.  I have chronic pain down to the bone with every episode.  I can go months in between episodes.  but it varies.  I  have been to multiple neurologists, even UCSF couldnt figure out what was going on.  My multiple MRIs are clear.  I have just now started back up with my research and again had another MRI today.  It sounds like MS by what ive read but The neurologist thinks I have recurrent Hemeparesis.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.  Maybe Im missing something.??

That helped my MS, believe it or not, for quite some time, weird......

Think about it as not getting adequate blood supply to brain which is supplied by those vessels, causing compensation there...........was way explained to me.........

there is another medical name for HM but I can't think of it, I will work on my brain to come up with it!

Thats exactly what my neuro has said.  Hemipelegic Migraines.  But I couldnt wrap my head around it.  How can you have a migraine and not feel it??  The MRI I had yesterday had contrast.  My last 5 didnt.

So Im hoping something will show up.  If not, we are doing the LP.  He has put me on a vitiamin regimine and Amitriptyline...a relaxant.  I go back in a month

So what would cause HM or bring it on?  Thank you for taking the time to answer..

what you have describes hemiplegic migraines.  That said, there is often NO headache.  It is different than MS but has much of the same symptoms, when relating to the numbness.

When I was diagnosed with it, my neuro prescribed Inderal, that was back in the 80's.  Since then I have learned that it was indeed MS but it was a number of years before I was able to get an MRI to prove it.

You might ask for an LP to see if you have any O bands in your spinal fluid.

I was told that there are 3 major blood vessels that go down the back of the neck from the spine and when one of them refuses to stay open/closed? it brings on the hemiparesis......I may have that wording wrong......which brings on the HM......you might ask your neuro if they are willing to do one or both of the above....just a thought.....you might also ask them to do an Epstein-Barr blood test for the fatigue.
