Please remove the icepick from my side O_o

I've been confused about if the pain I get in my shoulder blade area is MS Hug or not.

I'm almost positive that the pain that started this morning is MS Hug. It started up soon after I woke up, at 6:30. It just felt like a sharp stabbing pain, on my right side that came in a wave almost. A sharp pain right between the ribs on the right side, just in one small spot (like being stabbed with an icepick) then it "waved"/ radiated through my right ribcage and was gone. Only lasting about 5-10 seconds, but painful enough where I'm holding my breath when it happens.

It was a random thing, happening a few times over the course of 5 minutes, then nothing for 30 minutes to an hour. As the day is going on, the time between "episodes" is getting shorter. And the episodes are lasting longer. I've just had it going on for the last 20 minutes or so. Ouch!

I don't have time for this today LOL I have a deadline for my schoolwork that is coming up quick, and I need to spend a bunch of time on that. Plus, DH is getting the "big 'V' this afternoon, so I'm in charge of kids and house this weekend so he can recover.

And I was doing so well this week ignoring pretty much all symptoms and pretending I'm healthy and fine :-)

You guys are wonderful!

I ended up not calling my doctor, though the office did call me but I completely forgot to say anything about the pain. They were calling because my LP results were in so they wanted to set up an appointment to go over them. I go in on Thursday afternoon.

I told my husband if I keep feeling this over the weekend I'll call the office on Monday.

Luckily the kids were all helpful yesterday so the house did not fall apart too badly LOL I'm just slightly behind schedule with schoolwork, I should finish the assignment Sunday afternoon instead of tonight, but it is still before the deadline. And, hubby is doing just great and back to his normal activities (within reason LOL)

I hope you guys are having a great weekend! We got rain here yesterday evening, so it cooled it down a bit. Today is only supposed to be in the mid-80's LOL

PLUCK!

I wish it were that easy.  I would do it for each and every one of us here.  I am so sorry you are having these pains.  Having to do your turn with the 6 monkeys while hubby gets taken care of, at the same time.  ;0(  Plus, your schoolwork.

Boy, sounds like a VERY busy weekend.  Pace yourself and put off what you can or see if you can make a game of a few things that need to get done that the monkeys can help with.

I think ess gave you some good advise, too.  And, she is oh so right!  Things always seem to happen on Fridays!

Hi, Jess. I don't know whether your shoulder pain is the MS hug or not, though I doubt it.

That part doesn't matter, though. It's highly likely to be from MS, regardless. Remember, we have nerves everywhere, allowing lots of room for messed up signals. The hug area is just among the more common ones.

This is one of those situations where the remedy can pinpoint the cause. If regular pain relievers don't do the trick, then try your neurontin. If that doesn't help, the next thing would be muscle relaxants.

I think you should give your neuro a call. You don't want the weekend to go by without some relief.  Why is it that these things always happen on Fridays!!   :-)

Sorry to hear that Jess.  Maybe it is the MSHug beginning phase.  I have it and it stays for anywhere from hours to days.

If it is something that you feel is more serious calling your doctor may be a good idea too.

I know, this 'stuff' seems to get in the way of plans doesn't it?
