Thanks everyone! I am so glad to have found this forum! It is nice to have some people that can relate to what I am going through!!
Lulu - In regards to the lumbar puncture I am going to ask her when I see her in March. She told me so much info that maybe I miss understood something, but I am almost positive that is what she said. I know you can check for other diseases in your spinal fluid as well. Maybe she meant that too much time has past for it to pick up if it was because of anything else. I am not sure how the o bands work with diagnoses, but I have heard it can be inaccurate as well. I thought some people can still get negative LP but still be diagnosed with MS.
Thanks again!
Susan
Hi Susan,
You have allot of things going on right now and I'm sure it is difficult to digest all of it. Hopefully, you won't need to do a lumbar puncture and of course we hope you don't have a demyelinating disease!
I know it's hard to wait---I guess the only good thing is that you are in good company here. Hanging out here will help pass the time I think. We are almost into February though.
The reflexes are part of MS as well as many other neurological diseases. MS usually presents with hyper-reflexia.

Susan,
This is a very slow process normally to get to a diagnosis. MS is a dx of exclusion, and everything else has to be ruled out, first.
I am concerned that she made the comment about the Lumbar Puncture - the length of time to wait is irrelevant when it comes to catching signs of MS. Once the o-bands are present in your spinal fluid, they will always be there, from what I understand. They don't go away.
I know this can be very trying - especially since you have to wait until March for more followup. Keep in mind that neurological time moves slowly. March will be here before you know it.
be well,
Lulu
Hi Susan
Sounds like you have some results but nothing conclusive and as you say you are going to have to wait patiently till March. It is so hard waiting when "possible" diagnoses are mentioned and in some ways this can feel quite scary. Just hold on to what you know rather than imagining the worst. It sounds as if your neuro is being thorough and trying to eliminate other conditions so I hope that you will not have to wait to long to get some answers.
Cheers for now
Sarah :)
