IVIG...has anyone on here had this for an attack?

I have a friend that works at my drugstore and she has active MS.  She recently had a relapse and her dr. gave her a choice between steroid treatment or IVIG.  She had never heard of IVIG so she opted for the steroids which wreak havoc on her body as we all can atest to.  

My question is has anyone on here undergone an IVIG treatment and if so, can you explain what it is and what it does and if there are side effects?  I am hoping my friend will get on the forum herself but if not I would like to pass this info on to her.

I am pretty sure one of our members has done the IVIg, but it sounded long term.  Oh, I'm horrible with names, but she has pretty long hair.

Funnymonkeytoes!!  That's her name.  Or it's pretty close....  Why don't you PM her?

And, Rena.....YOU have active MS, too.  It's just that your doctor doesn't get it!

Hi Kathy...I had googled it myself as did my friend but I was hoping that someone here had tried it and I could hear what it was all about from the horses mouth so to speak.  As you know there is nothing like the experiences of others to educate us in a way that we can truly understand right?  My friend has had horrible side effects from Solumedrol and Prednisone and it is making it very difficult for her to continue her job and day to day activities so if this is easier on the body it would be a good thing for her.  I personally haven't heard any reports of anyone trying it but there must be someone out there that has?  Thanks for the effort though Kathy...we do appreciate it a lot!
