Interfeuron and Heat??

I just started Rebif 3 weeks ago and am working my way up to the full 44 mcg dose.  since I started taking it, my symptoms have gotten worse.  I am not totally sure if my relapse has ended, and the whole family had a bad cold over two of the 3 weeks I have been taking the Rebif so I attributed my symptoms to all of these issues.

Well I finally returned the call from the nurse who wanted to see how I was doing and she told me that interfeuron raises your body temp and that of course is not fun for ppl with MS so to be really careful about overheating and make sure to hydrate.  So now I am wondering what these symptoms are from.  Maybe just the meds?
She said it will be impossible to tell for a while due to new dx and new to meds.  UGH!  Oh the joys of MS.

I would love to hear your stories about starting your meds.

Hey -

While my MS lifelines nurse did not tell me about the body temp. raise, I sure had my share of symptoms and heat related "stuff."

Just like she said, being new to dx, hard to differentiate between MS and meds.

For example, I would get tingling and numb spots that would just come and go all over the place.  Mostly in my legs.  It was a new symptom that started post meds.  I did not know what to think - it's an MS symptom.

My only suggestion is to hang in there long enough to adjust.  And, jot these things in your book.  It's like micromanaging but worth it in the long run.

Oh, you taking at night before bed? And a tylenol or something?

Thanks. I do hope you feel better soon too!
I am gonna keep my eye on this.  I start my waitressing job back tomorrow too.  Oh well.  I already told my boss I am going to have to leave before summer because it gets too hot in the restaurant.  She wasn't excited! Se La Vi!

I was sick when I started interferron too.  I had the worst relaps yet just into week two.  I spent week 3 on IV steroids.  It took a week after the steroids for me to be normal again.  I am on Betaseron, and now the full dose (2.5 wks) is making me fill ill, although I am not.

Good luck!
