Is there relation between MS and neck pain and sinuses

I have MS since 1994 I am 42 years old. I have neck and back pain and my sinuses are very active. Is the MS guilty for this. How can I reduse the pain and sinuses?

Yes it is stiffed all the time, sometimes (rarely) it is less and then I feel wonderfull. I have feeling that MS is wokling around my body - sometimes she catches the legs, sometimes vision, sometimes speaking. But the neck, back allways. Sometimes I feel I have helmet around my chest.

I too have the same issues, sinus, allergies, asthma and my neck is an absolute mess and has been getting worse for years.

Tomorrow i am having an epidural to stop the neck pain, I had one almost 2 yrs ago and it worked so well.  But they are sending to see a neurosurgeon so i can know my options..yikes !.

hugs, meg

Just what you described --.the feeling like I can't hold my head on my neck--that is something I experience almost daily...and yes, it's stiff, but not the feeling like your muscles can't hold it up...I almost feel like a bobblehead some days...I really hope the next neuro I see next week orders me a spinal MRI, I'm curious...I have lesions in the brain, but spine hasn't been checked yet, since my last QUACK neuro said it wasn't necessary..he just dismissed me.

Best wishes to all!

Hi again,

I get that too...the feeling like I can't hold my head on my neck...I'm sure it sounds strange to those who haven't experienced it. Does yours get stiff too - but not like a stiff neck caused by muscles?

You too HVAC? I'm forgetting, do you have lesions in your c-spine too? Or, you think it's the bulging discs causing the problems?

Best wishes back to you Polina. Hoping this serves as a bump to the front page too - so you can meet more of us...

Yes I have lesions in the neck. I did MR in 1994 and the doctors found 5 or 6 lesions in the head, then in 2006 I did MR twice (the head and the neck ) after I lost vision on my right eye and the doctors said that I have new lesions in the neck and head. I fill that I can't hold my head on the neck, and I have pain when I move my head left or right or its stands right.
Othewise I am "Ok".  I have pains all the time in the neck and in the back, and the stomack is killing me because of Cellcept, I am slowmotion with my legs, I use nose drops for sinuses but I ACCEPTED this situation as normal. I had one more MR and I am waiting for the results.

Sorry to hear about your problems.

I have all of the above. I have bad allergies, asthma, and sinus problems. I constantly wash my sinuses out with saline. Every doctor I have had said that is really important. I have a bulging disc in my neck. I have trouble falling asleep. I have a special neck pillow. I am starting a mild yoga class and relaxation exercises at the suggestion of the MS Society
and it is helping.

Hi Polina,

Welcome to the forum.  Do you have lesions in your c-spine? I do, and do have lots of problems with my neck.  I believe it's a combo of things going on there for me (MS and disc), but like you, wish something would back off the pain when it's intense.

I've not pursued it with my Dr. Just mentioned it time-to-time.

Did you get put on DMDs in 94? How are you doing otherwise?

thank you for joining us!

Just found this discussion from off MedHelp where Quix joins in the discussion it seems the sinus issue and MS are not related. It is just that sinus problems are very common in general.

I have no answer to this question but just wanted you to know you are not alone.

I was investigated for sinus issues way back some 20 years and then again 10 years ago and nothing was found. I am now waiting another ENT appt in July as it seems to be getting worse and not responding to any treatment.

By the way I am dx with mild MS currently undergoing more tests with sx going back some 20 years. I also get lots of pains in neck, head and shoulders.

I hope someone has some answers for you.
