Itchy scalp

Hi guys

Sorry I have not been around much these days, but here I am again and pleased to drop in even if it is because my head is dreiving me mad!.  I have had an itchy scalp for about 2 weeks and have searched the community and seen
that other people have mentioned this before but thought I would put it out to see if anyone has any suggestions.

I am as some of you know, on an oral drug trial so could be a side effect (although I have been on the drug for at least 6 months and have not suffered before). I am also on Lyrica (previously gabapentin but it made me put on weight and I think I lost some hair). I am also taking vitamin D, multivitamins, Q10 and omega 3 fish oils. I take a small dose of amitriptylin at night and am on the mini pill.

I have not got dandruff, and as far as I am aware have not got head lice as I asked a friend to check. I ahve not changed my shampoo recently and so I feel that it is neurological. I have had quite a lot of tingling on one side of my head which comes and goes but this is different sensation to the itchiness.

So is there anything else that could be causing the itchiness and is it possibly neurological. i am seeing my neuro next month so will mention it then.

Cheers for now

Sarah

Hey there!

Join the club of itchy scalp syndrome!  I have this too on occasion (actually the past two nights) and I am on Neurontin 600mg a day (for my left leg and left arm burning) and I also took benadryl 50mg for it.  It seems to help the benadryl...decreases it to a minimum at least.

I highly doubt that your itchy scalp has to do with shampoo, lice, fleas, etc. LOL.  It's most likely neurological.

I hope it gets better and most definitely tell your Neuro about it.

I don't know what you can try besides the lyrica. Hoping others will have some suggestions :) and giving this a healthy bump!

You going to tell the study monitors too?
The itching must really make you crazy! Hope it subsides!
