It's Been Awhile Again

Hi, Everyone.

My laptop crashed, lost all my passwords. Medhelps password re-set wasn't working, so I e-mailed them last week, and I received a temporary password today.

I turned out to be severely allergic to Copaxone.

So, now I am on Rebif.

My body coudln't handle the full 44 mcg. dose, so I am injecting 22 mcg. 3 times a week.

How is everyone else?

Missed everyone so much!

Sheila

Hi, jumpinjiminy.

Thank you-sorry it's taken me so long to reply-my Great Uncle passed away Sunday morning, and it's been a rough week.

I loved him dearly, and he will be greatly missed.

So glad to see you checking in and that you're having some luck with a DMD. Just wanted to pop in and say hi.

Hi, Kerri.

You're welcome.

You may not be allergic to Copaxone, I have read that people that use it suffer with those side effects the entire time they use it.

So, when you talk to your Neuro-if you're not allergic, maybe discuss changing to a different DMARD.

Thanks so much for the info.
I don't think my reaction is as bad as yours but I will ask the neuro anyway.

I am going to look at your pic.

My MS Specialist didn't "test" me for an allergy to the Copaxone, she knew that the reactions I was having to it, were allergic reactions.

Into my 4 & 1/2 weeks, I began getting migraine headaches 20 minutes after my injection. And, after an injection, every other site I had injected within the past week, itched. The swelling and itching didn't go away after injections. My injection sites were huge, itchy welts.

She did examine my injection sites.

It took a month after stopping Copaxone for the welts to go away.

It is a wise idea to talk to your Neuro and see if you are allergic to it.

You could train your Toy English Spaniel to remind you when it is time for medication.

My older Yorkie, that I lost to chronic renal failure, woke me every morning at 6:00 for meds.

If you want to see my tiny Kia, I posted a picture in my album. She is 13 years old.

Its so funny tht you soothed this,
This morning I went to Physical therapy and told them that my ears were really itchy.

She said it could be a reacts WTO the copaxone.
I also have huge itchy welts but I thought that was par for the course with copaxone.  How did they test your for allergy to it?

I am curious because I see my neuro on Friday and was going to mention it.

I am glad you are able to come on again.
I have a toy English spaniel bu I always loved Yorkers.
Especially the really little ones.

I thought about training my little guy for service but he would be able to pick anything up for me because he is so tiny.

Thanks.

Hi, Lulu.

Actually had to send an e-mail to Medhelp and explain that their password re-set wasn't working.

I asked MokiBear to ask in the forum if anyone could help me out, and she told me she asked you.

So, if you were the one to get it straighted out, thank you, I've very grateful.

I was really glad to be taken off the Copaxone and so far, I'm handling the Rebif. Although, I am always extremely fatigued.

I'm glad you're doing well on tysabri.

How did you decide to go to infusions?

Glad to be back-thank you.

Sheila

Hi, Guitar_grrrl!

Thank you, it's good to be back.

I don't mind the Rebif injections-no site reactions. On Copaxone, it burned like mad for 45 minutes after, and I had huge, itchy welts, and I felt horrible.

I posted a photo of Kia and I-take a look at my sweet little girl. She's 13 years old now.

Hi, Shell!

It's so nice to see you, too!

Yes, had to ditch the Copaxone. I've been on the Rebif since February 20th. I'm glad to know that Rebif is serving you well.

I have a lot of permanent damage, that may have been prevented, if my former Neuro had not retracted his diagnosis.

I don't mind the Rebif injections, at all. No site reactions. (Although, I am hoping to gain some weight, because I don't have enough fat. Hit a nerve in my arm one night, and oh my word, did that ever hurt! Couldn't move my fingers. And everytime I slept on my left side, my hand went numb for several weeks.)

The Rebif nurse did tell me that the 22 mcg. as been shown to help.

I'm very fatigued all of the time. Hoping that will improve.

Missed you, Shell!

Thank you! It's good to be back!

The Copaxone nurses kept telling me that my side effects were not from the Copaxone, and I tried hard to tough it out, but finally, at 6 & 1/2 weeks, my DH went to my MS Specialists office and talked with her assistant.

Within a half an hour, she called me, and said, "Don't take another dose, you are highly allergic!"

Glad to see the password reset brought you back, finally.  Sorry about the med switch but there seems to be a lot of that going around these days.  I made the jump from copaxone to tysabri late last year and just had my third infusion.  So far, so good.

Glad to see you return, Lu

Hi, Yorkie!

Good to see you back, and on a DMD you can hopefully tolerate.  I didn't mind Rebif's needle when I was on it - pretty tiny!

Speaking of tiny - one of my co-workers just got a 9 week old teacup Yorkie this week.  I've seen pieces of chicken bigger than that dog!!!  She's just adorable, and her name is Bella.

Cheers!

Hi Sheila! Nice to see you - wow, had to ditch the copax huh? Well, if it's any consolation, I'm on Rebif, and it's serving me well :) I have chronic problems that I believe are from existing damage, not new.  I wish this for you too. I have a book that speaks to the 22 mgs - it can work too!

Thin needle isn't it? I find injecting very easy.
Miss you too! Glad to have you back :) Hope you are feeling stable :)
